Bioplastics – what do we really mean?
Is it easy? • Unstable process due to variations in the material • Bad smell • Limitations of supply • Not for food • PCM – recycled material
Bioplastic challenges • All plastics are not available as renewablequalities • Sometimes the new material works in an existingmouldbutmostoften not • Most often the productdoesn´t look as good as in traditional materials • Sometimes the productquality is lowerthanwithtraditional materials • Most often the price is higherthanwithtraditional materials • A lotofinvestmentsneed to be donebut no onecanafford to make it immediately • The transition is as big as whenmoving from Bakelite to thermoplastics – but it does not seem so – in mostpeopleseyes plastic is plastic
