October 4, 2008 Doctor Didn't Disclose Glaxo Payments, Senator Says By David Armstrong A prominent Emory University psychiatrist failed to tell the school about $500,000 he received from drug maker GlaxoSmithKline PLC while heading a government-funded research project studying Glaxo drugs, Sen. Charles Grassley alleged. The payments to Charles Nemeroff, chairman of the Atlanta university's psychiatry department, compensated him for making presentations to doctors about Glaxo drugs, including its big-selling antidepressant Paxil, according to records Sen. Grassley obtained from Emory and Glaxo. The senator made the allegations in a letter to Emory President James W. Wagner dated Thursday. On October 15, the NIH froze the $9.3 million grant to Emory

McLEAN HOSPITAL Title Slide: Option 4 (with Harvard crest) System Testing “Load Average” • Load Average is a measure of the amount of “work” that is being done by a processor • Load averages are generated using different metrics such as disk load, CPU use, and memory use. • EXAMPLE: A Load Average of 2 means that the server needs to be 2 times faster in order to keep up with its current load. A Load Average of 1 means that it is just keeping up with processing needs.

McLEAN HOSPITAL Title Slide: Option 4 (with Harvard crest) RIS Statistics • The Research Community contains ~1,000 computers (desktops, laptops, servers, lab machines) • There are ~600 email accounts • Many new accounts are created each month while only a few are deleted, resulting in net growth • RIS receives an average of 100 requests for support each month • 75% are resolved in 24 hours; 90% within 2 days
