  2. There are five different groups of animals with vertebrates. Mammals Reptiles Fish Amphibians Birds

  3. Both the Keel-billed Toucans and the Rainbow Lorikeet are birds.

  4. Most birds have these characteristics • They have feathers. • Birds are warm-blooded. • They have two wings, two legs, and a beak. • Birds give birth to babies hatched from eggs. • Birds breathe through lungs.

  5. The Toucan lives in the rain forest and has green skin around the eyeball. The green skin is a type of camouflage to help the toucan blend into his surroundings.

  6. The Toucan has a rainbow – colored, light–weight bill with toothed edges and a red tip. It uses it’s bill to grab its food. It likes to eat fruit, but may also eat bird eggs, insects, lizards, and tree frogs.

  7. The Keel-billed Toucan The Toucan has a BIG Bill unlike other birds. He cannot fly well so he hops from branch to branch. He uses his beak to reach fruit and eats it whole by tossing his head back and swallowing the fruit whole.

  8. The Keel-billed Toucan The Toucan has a long thick tail to help keep it’s balance. It has four toes on each foot; two toes face forwards and two face backwards.

  9. The Keel-billed Toucan The Toucan lives in the rain forest. Toucan eat mostly fruit, but also eat bird eggs, insects, and tree frogs. Toucans swallow fruit whole and then spits up the seeds.
