  6. Kids Walk-to-School Create healthy and walkable communities

  7. Kids Walk-to-School Mobilize communities to work together to create safer routes to school

  12. Physical Activity: • Reduces feelings of Depression & Anxiety • Related to higher levels of self esteem • Fosters healthy social and emotional development

  16. Almost 50% of young people in U.S. are not vigorously active on a regular basis

  17. Kids Walk-to-School • Percent of overweight kids ages 6 to 11 has risen over 100% in last 30 yrs

  18. Kids Walk-to-School • Overweight children are more likely to become obese adults • Obese adults at are risk for heart disease, and cancer

  24. Increase percentage of trips to school 2 miles or less made by bicycle from 2.4% to 5.0%
