General Inquiries Address: 115 Rupertsland off Main Street • It is situated where it was first built • 9 room dwelling • Attached to a log cabin, which is 171 years old • House is 154 years old • Became a museum in 1958 • Home to about 1500 artifacts • Tours available between 10:00 am to 5:00 pm • 10-15 people maximum per group, takes between 20 – 45 minutes per tour

  4. Structure • Museum is owned by the city of Winnipeg • Run by a volunteer board ( 7 people) • No official supervision • Board visits, or calls to provide feedback between employees and board

  5. My Responsibilities • Opening/closing the museum • Maintain cleanliness • Tour guests through the museum/ guest services • Gardening • Handle artifacts and research additional information

  6. Skills Skill areas which have developed: • Communication skills • Interpersonal skills • Leadership skills • Manual and maintenance skills • Teamwork skills • Tour guiding skills

  7. What is Seven Oaks House? • Tells the story of the Inkster family • Showcases what life was like during the Red River Settlement • Showcases original furniture, clothing, paintings and photographs from as early as 1799 to 1920. • One of the oldest habitable homes in Winnipeg

  8. Most Memorable These were the most memorable events that took place at the Museum: • Baby animals rescued • Criminals caught red handed • Friday the 13th (July)

  9. Conclusion Overall I learned a lot, and it has better equipped me for the future.
