FAA Forecasts - GEO Forecasts Ten-year forecast: • Developed by the Commercial Space Transportation Advisory Committee (COMSTAC) at request of AST • First compiled in 1993 and updated annually • Prepared using plans and projections supplied by U.S. and international satellite and launch companies • Limited to internationally competed launch service procurements • Supply-based forecast

  3. FAA Forecasts - NGSO Forecast Ten-year forecast: • First compiled in 1994 by AST and updated annually • Demand-based projections focusing on NGSO market areas: • Low-data-rate communications • Telephony • Broadband data • Remote sensing • Robust and baseline scenarios outlined

AST Publications - Quarterly Launch Report • AST compiles a report focusing on worldwide launch industry each calendar quarter • Highlights developments in industry from previous quarter • Provides statistics on previous quarter’s launch activity • Includes a Special Report topic covering a subject of interest for the industry • Provides a forecast of worldwide launch activity 6 months out

AST Publications - Weekly Orbital Launch Report • AST assembles a weekly report on worldwide launch activity for calendar year • Front page is a quick reference for • Total launches • Total commercial launches • Total launches by vehicle capacity • Total commercial launch revenue by country • Includes list of complete and forecast worldwide launch events by country and payload for calendar year

AST Publications - The Year in Review • AST assembles a document covering the previous year’s developments in the launch and satellite industry • Highlights both commercial and government activity • Provides statistics in graphic and tabular form on satellite and launch activity • Compiled annually for each calendar year

AST Publications - RLV Report • AST distributes a report on state of reusable launch vehicle (RLV) industry • Highlights developments in industry by vehicle and company or organization • Discusses status of existing and planned spaceports that service or may eventually service RLVs • Updated annually

The Impact of Commercial Space Transportation on the U.S. Economy • Overview • The FAA conducted a study to determine the economic impacts of the commercial space industry on the national economy • Based on two studies conducted by the FAA on the economic impacts of civil aviation and the economic significance of airports • Approach • Used the Department of Commerce Bureau of Economic Analysis Regional Input-Output Modeling System (RIMS II) to quantify the economic value of financial transactions associated directly or indirectly with commercial space transportation • Source data from Satellite Industry Association annual survey

Highlights of Economic Impact Study • Commercial Space Transportation and enabled industries make a significant contribution to the U.S. economy • In 1999 commercial space transportation and enabled industries generated over $61.3 billion of economic activity in the U.S. economy • Over $16.4 billion in earnings was taken home by U.S. workers • Over 497,000 jobs were a result of commercial space transportation and enabled industries
