As the lead counselor for the 7th grade class of 2025 at Baines Middle School, Maria Brockie is here to support students. To meet with me, students can ask their teachers for a pass, visit Mrs. Rosario, or email me directly. We can discuss various topics including grades, social skills, stressors, and more. Importantly, during our conversations, confidentiality is maintained, barring situations where safety is a concern. Together, we can tackle challenges like bullying through the steps of recognizing, responding, and reporting. Your well-being is our priority!

  3. How do I get to see the counselor? • Ask your teacher for a pass • Stop by and tell Mrs. Rosario you’d like to see me • Email me and ask me to send for you • I may send for you for a lot of different reasons – don’t worry – you’re not in trouble!

  4. What can we talk about? • Grades, Parents, Teachers, Friends, Stressors, Problems, Accomplishments, Study Skills, Grief/Loss, Divorce, Social Skills, Bullying, Depression, Test Taking Tactics, Social Skills, Anger Management, Anxiety, Just about anything………

  5. Am I going to tell? • Three rules: • You are hurting yourself • You are hurting someone else • Someone else is hurting you

What is bullying? • Bullying is defined as written or oral expression or physical conduct that a school district’s board of trustees or the board’s designee determines: 1) To have the effect of physically harming a student, damaging a student’s property, or placing a student in reasonable fear of harm to the student’s person or of damage to the student’s property: or 2) To be sufficiently severe, persistent, or pervasive to create an intimidating, threatening, or abusive educational environment for a student.   9. What if it happens to me? • Don’t just stand there – DO SOMETHING!!! • Say something like: • “It’s not ok for you to talk to me that way and you need to stop.” R E S P O N D
