  4. GFWC “News & Notes” • Sign up for GFWC Mailing List • Submit your news to “News & Notes • Example: GFWC’s News & Notes August 1, 2011

Media Relations & Press Releases • Develop a relationship with local media sources. • Newspapers • Radio • Television including local cable stations • Develop a standard press release template for your club • Use the GFWC template as a guideline • Always include: • FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE • GFWC emblem • Contact information

  6. Using All Communication Sources • Newsletters • Website • Calendar Listings • Photo Releases • Letters to the Editor • Public Service Announcements • Briefing Kit

Community Awareness • Celebrate Federation Day on April 24 and Volunteers in Action Week • Host special community events • Sponsorships • Adopt a Highway • Sponsor a local sports team • Participate in Community Events like parades, tree lightings, etc. • Represent the Federation on the boards of local organizations
