ICAP(Individual Career and Academic Plan) • All students must have an ICAP • Students are assigned tasks and completion dates by grade level • Task examples = academic plan, career interest inventory, college search, high school goal, Jr/Sr conference • Login to Naviance to complete the ICAP tasks • Each student must have a completed ICAP by graduation • iPhone/iPad users can download Naviance App

  4. Rigor College and universities want to see successful completion of rigorous course work. To be the most competitive for college, students are encouraged to take honors, MYP, Advanced Placement (AP) and IB Courses.

Pre-Registration Process • Teacher makes course recommendations prior to registration (due 1/31) • What if there isn’t a recommendation? • 2/3-2/28- Students register online via Naviance • Accessible online from home or Smoky Hill • 3/3 – 3/21- Pre-reg verification with counselor • Each student will complete an individual meeting with their Counselor • Counselors will not be taking appointments during this time period • Program of Study

  13. Naviance • Remember: • 6 credits – 4 academic core • 3 alternatives – in order of preference (1-3) • If you qualify for a 7th class (in a special program), put this as your 1st alternate • (1) Save & Validate AND (2) Submit for Approval

  14. What’s Next? Choose wisely– Schedule repairs will be allowed for academic reasons only. This is a teamed process that includes the student, parent(s)/guardian(s) and teachers. Purpose of course selection sheet handed out today.
