  8. www.stpltd.com Characteristics of different Grades

  9. www.stpltd.com Choice of the correct Grade

  10. www.stpltd.com Coating process….. Outer Wrap Ist coat of Shali Enamel Inner Wrap Blasted pipe Primer 2nd coat of Shali Enamel

  11. www.stpltd.com A few thumb rules …. Gas pipelines Higher temp grades Water pipelines Lower temp grades Rocky soil/movement and wide temp variations High softening point &low penetration grade

  12. www.stpltd.com A good coating depends on… • Surface preparation • Contaminants • Primer surface tension • Wetting property of the enamel • Viscosity of coating material • Inner and Outer Wrap compatibility

  13. www.stpltd.com Cutting-edge corrosion prevention….

  14. www.stpltd.com A solution for on-site practical problems as well….. • Excellent coating over welds • Effective over valves ,fittings and irregular shapes • Flexible coating which can withstand bending and thermal stresses • High impact resistance to prevent backfill damage

  18. www.stpltd.com THE FINAL VERDICT…. There is a great disparity in attitude towards CTE. People ask why usage of this coating declined while the popularity of more expensive coating has increased? In part , this can be directly traced to the misinformation published over the years regarding the performance of CTE in the areas of air quality, ground and surface water contamination and degradation. Now it is the time to set the record straight. In fact unlike the paints and thermosetting coating which require complete release of volatile organic compound to cure or to produce a film, the thermoplastic nature of CTE results in the emission of VOCs only when the material at or near the temperature of application. When the material cools below its softening point, about 15 secs after application, VOC emissions immediately diminish. CTE coating systems available today use modern and widely accepted methods of application which not only deal with any health and environmental concerns but also ensures the highest coating quality. The coating yard is equipped with full extraction facilities, and fumes can be thoroughly scrubbed before being released to atmosphere.” Bryan Scott in Gas Journal, June 2001
