  1. 28 January 2014: Planner check!!! • Do you think teen marriages can last? • Write 3reasons to support your opinion. • Do you know someone who is involved in a teen marriage? Are they still together? What struggles do they have?

Group work • In groups of 5 or 6 read and annotate the article, “Can a Teen Marriage Last?”. **Number each paragraph for reference. • Assign roles: scribe, mediator, idea generator (2-3), speaker. • Discuss the questions one by one in your group. • Write your group’s comments on a sheet of notebook paper.

  3. Discussion questions • Discuss and write down the answers to these questions on a sheet of notebook paper. Make certain every group members’ name is on it. • What are the four reasons that Silvers states as reasons for teens to marry? Do you think any of these are valid? • Why do you think that 50-60% of teen marriages end in divorce? • What does Silvers advise teen couples to do before getting married? • What are the ideal circumstances to have in place before marriage? Do you agree? Why or why not?
