  4. PHYSICAL • Uneven physical growth • Rapid brain growth • Restlessness and periods of fatigue • Metabolic & hormonal fluctuation • Periods of high energy and lethargy • Underdeveloped sense of time and space

  5. INTELLECTUAL • Short attention span • Needs relevance in learning • Responds to choice • Varied ability level • Inquisitive • Concrete thinking • Orientation to the present

  6. EMOTIONAL • Fluctuating Emotion • High level of anxiety • Extreme sensitivity • Behavior • Fluctuating moods • Extreme self-consciousness

  7. SOCIAL • Desire for independence • Sensitivity to peer pressure • Reclusive behavior • Changing interests & priorities • Needs to focus on role models • Acceptance

  8. WHAT DOES A MIDDLE SCHOOL SCHEDULE LOOK LIKE? • All students take the following core classes: • English, Math, Science, Social Studies • All students take the following required courses: • Phys. Ed., Health, Computer Applications, Art

  10. Electives - Foreign Language Spanish French Chinese Level 1 of each language is taught over two years. Students receive grades on their high school transcript in eighth grade. Two years of foreign language is the requirement for most universities.

  12. Electives - Considerations • If a student takes both a foreign language and a music, no study hall time will be available. • Students receiving intervention will be asked to choose between foreign language and music.

Reminders Attendance Matters! • Students will be considered unexcused after 5 days of missed school unless accompanied by a doctor’s note or a planned absence form. • Students will receive consequences for tardies: • 4th-8th tardy- After School Detention (ASD) • 9th-12th tardy-Saturday School for each late arrival. ALL STUDENTS MUST HAVE A TDAP VACCINATION PRIOR TO THE START OF 7TH GRADE

  18. How do I sign up? On-Line Portion Visit cfhs.finalforms.com Registration for Fall will open in April. Sign all the forms. Select all sports. Have your child sign forms. Notification will be sent to his/her e-mail.

  19. How do I sign up? Paper portion. On-Line Confirmation Form OHSAA Physical Form (6 pgs.) Valid for 1 year from exam.

  20. Athletic Eligibility: 3 Levels OHSAA CFEVS Weekly The student must have passed 5 classes the previous quarter. 7th Graders not subject to this rule until the second quarter of 7th grade. The student must not fail more than one course in the previous quarter. Students below a 2.0 GPA may apply for conditional eligibility. 7th graders not subject until the second quarter. Any student with two reported failing grades during the season will not practice or compete with the team until no more than one failing grade remains.
