Project Idea • Who can participate in FP7? Any legal entity established in a Member State (MS), associated country (AS) or in a third country • How many project partners do I need? At least 3 independent legal entities from different MS or associated country • Who is entitled to funding? Same as above, except USA, Canada, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand
Project Types* • Collaborative projects • Large Projects • Small Projects • Networks of Excellence • Ideas Starting & Advanced Grants • Marie-Curie Fellowships • Integrated Infrastructures Initiatives,Research for the benefit of SMEs, SICAs, etc • Coordination and Support Actions (for all FP7) *… also called “funding schemes”

Projects Preparation - Costs Eligible costs • Occur during the project • Usual accounting and management principles apply • Must be recorded in the accounts • Used for the sole purpose of achieving the objectives of the project Non eligible costs • Identifiable indirect taxes; e.g. VAT • Exchange losses • etc. Eligible cost=Direct cost+Indirect costs (overhead)
PEOPLE – financials • Researchers: + expenses related to travel + expenses being away from home + expenses attending interviews for the following job • Institutionsreceive up to €600/month - Figures are indexed to the cost of living in the country

Proposal Submission • During an open ‘Call for Proposal’ • Every call comes with a work programme -> detailed & specific description of particular topics -> criteria regarding size of consortium, funding schemes etc. • Calls are published on CORDIS -> find a call! • and on EURESEARCH -> all open calls!
