  3. Spring 2014 Courses • Core Classes • Technology Core Option • Electives & Smith Experience

Core Classes • Required Spring 2014 Core Classes: • BUSI 611: Managerial Accounting • BUSI 634: Operations Management • Register for each course individually and choose 0101 or 0201 for each course to accommodate your schedule • You do not have to register for the same sections you are currently enrolled in

  5. Technology Core Option • You are required to take the Technology Core Option in Spring 2014 • Selective Options: • BUSI 621: Strategic and Transformational IT (0101) • BUSI 622: Managing Digital Business Markets (0101 or 0201)

  6. Smith Experience • May begin the Smith Experience electives in Spring 2014 – information sessions on projects taking place now • More information on Networth at The Smith Experience • Contact Bob Krapfel (bkrapfel@rhsmith.umd.edu) with any questions

  7. Electives • Register for 6-10 total elective credits in Spring 2014 (12-16 total Spring 2014 credits) • Use all resources available to assist in planning your elective selection • Spring 2014 Electives Spreadsheet • OCS & MPO Advisors • 2nd Year Students & Clubs • Faculty • Start with MPO!

  8. Electives • How do I know when and where a class if offered and who is teaching it? Are there seats available? • Testudo>Schedule of Classes>Spring 2014 Testudo

  9. Additional Elective Options • Off-site elective sections are open to College Park students as well • Washington, D.C. Campus: Sections DC01, DC06 • Baltimore Campus: Section BA01 • Shady Grove Campus: Section GS01 • MS Sections may be requested • Any section with a “5” in it, i.e. 0501, 0502, DC51, DC52 • Requires submitting a course request to Emily. Include the course and section in your request • Consortium or other UMCP courses: Contact Emily and Caroline

  10. Additional Elective Options • Winter 2014 Courses • Take place in January (mix of weekdays and weekends) • Can take one 2-credit course • Registration is Tuesday, October 29th at 7:30AM • Open Registration, no appointment times

Registration • Check for blocks in advance and check your appointment time (through Testudo > Appointment and Registration Status) • Testudo > Office of the Registrar > Registration (drop/add) > Spring 2014 > Click “accept” • Be sure to change the drop down menu to say Spring 2014 • Add your core classes, technology core option, and electives • Registration Tip: Register first for those classes most important to you!

Waitlist • If a course is full, add yourself to a wait list! • You cannot be registered for one section of a class and be on the wait list for another • Wait list check-in does not have to be done until the semester starts • If you remove yourself from a wait list, we cannot put you back on in your place • Wait list movement typically occurs before winter break and again a week before classes begin

Plan Wisely! • Make sure you know where you will go to register at 12:30pm on October 30th • Check your appointment and make sure you do not have any blocks prior to Wednesday, October 30th • Check your Immunization & Admissions blocks! • Have multiple plans of classes you might take • If you have a question, ask Emily and Caroline • Do not wait until the last minute!

  14. Step-by-Step Registration Instructions

  15. Step 1: Click on Registration (drop/add) from testudo.umd.edu

  16. Step 2: Select ‘Spring 2014’ from the drop-down menu and click ‘accept’. Login with your Directory ID and password

  17. Step 3: Blank chart will appear Enter Course Code i.e. BUSI611 Enter Section i.e. 0101 or 0201 Leave Grd Meth as is Entering “credits” is optional. If you leave blank, it will auto-fill Press ENTER

  18. Step 4: After you hit enter, the below message will appear: “You are adding/dropping a Non-Standard Course BUMO714 0201(10/24/13 - 12/13/13) This course may have different add/drop policies than other courses, please review information at http://registrar.umd.edu/current/registration/non-standard.htm To process the change to your schedule press the ENTER button.” Step 5: Press ENTER again to acknowledge the message

  19. Step 6: If the course has been successfully added to your schedule, it will appear in the chart

  20. Step 7: If the course is full, you may add yourself to the waitlistStep 8: Click “Add to Waitlist”

  21. Step 9: Check the box confirming you understand the policyStep 10: Check which section(s) you would like to be on the waitlist for. Press “Return Section(s)”.

  22. Step 11: If you’ve been successfully added to the waitlist, the below message will appear, “1 section was added to the waitlist”Step 12: Press ENTERStep 13: Press SIGN OFF to complete registration
