  1. Utah States’ Rights Coalition The Crucial Conversation This information is from the good people of iCaucus with some additions by the Utah States’ Rights Coalition

  2. Think this is awkward? Try talking politics with your neighbors.

  3. The Crucial Conversation A strategic method to inform and recruit like-minded, patriotic friends and neighbors to do their small part in helping turn the country around. It requires each patriot to have this “Crucial Conversation” with ten (10) friends or neighbors.

  4. Background:Community Organizer’s Persuasive Device: We’ve been doing this for two generations! “Agitate and Solve”

  5. How to… “Agitate and Solve” First, you qualify your listener then identify the problem. Then you agitate the listener’s pain before offering your solutionas the answer that will make it all better. The agitation phase is not about being sadistic; it’s about empathy.

  6. 1) Do you like the direction you see our country headed?2) Do you want things to continue going in that direction and likely getting much worse? The First Two Questions

  7. Let them Vent about how they see things Arrogance Steer the conversation towards the Realities… and you be EMPATHETIC. Fannie Mae Socialism Bailouts Proper Role of Government Czars Corruption National Security

  8. Reality 1 Our elected officials, mostly compromised incumbents, are not listening to us.

  9. Reality 2 The “Media” is not investigating what the incumbents are doing, nor are they exposing why they are doing it.

  10. Reality 3 The “Media” is not interested in giving any exposure to those of us who understand the concepts of limited federal powers, states’ rights and fiscal responsibility.

  11. Reality 4 The compromised incumbents will always have a lot more money to BUY the media than the challenger ever will, period!

  12. Reality 5 As individuals we don’t seem to have any influence on our nation’s leaders.

  13. Question 3) If I told you there is something YOU can do right now to stop it… …would you do it?

  14. Question 4)Would you do me a favor and watch this video? It will give you an overview of a project we can do in our neighborhood that can make a big difference.

  15. The Video Watch the video with them now or let them watch the video later… …then follow up. A video specifically crafted to share this Utah precinct project plan with your neighbors is under construction. This is expected to be available by Dec 1, 2009

  16. Other Resources: You might want to check out iCaucus. This is citizen’s organization that can give you methodology and tools to educate and activate your neighbors into action. This is a great resource. Step-by-Step Video Presentation "The 12 Articles of the Independence Caucus“ You will also find how-to webinars, written instructions and forums to network and share ideas with iCaucus members from throughout the country. Ourcaucus.com

  17. Remember, All Politics is Local… You have Two Objectives. 1) Alert and educate 10 neighbors and bring them to our neighborhood caucus with you. Motivate them to do the same with 10 other neighbors. 2) Represent our neighborhood by becoming a delegate to the Convention and assure that only candidates who have committed to constitutional standards are elected. (Or help you become that representative).

  18. because you are not alone! If you perform a little work in our neighborhood it will result in huge changes in our local government and then in our national government…

  19. Thousands like you across the state will be in their own neighborhoodsworking on this same project.

  20. Start thinking about 10 people you can truly reach Building Critical Mass: The Power of 10 This information is from the people of I-caucus with some additions by the Utah 9.12 States’ Rights Coalition

  21. Introducing…The Power of 10

  22. The Jason Chaffetz Miracle • “Jason Chaffetz taught “the Power of 10” to a handful of volunteers to motivate and convince them that we would win the election versus popular incumbent Chris Cannon even though at the time Jason was only pulling 4% in the newspaper polls. Major radio powerhouse station (KSL) refused to invite Jason to a debate because he wasn’t “a viable candidate.” Because Jason convinced us that the “Power of 10” would work, they went out and actually did it.” • “Because the campaign volunteers went out and actually did it, they ended up going from 4% in the polls to winning the primary and defeating the compromised incumbent 60% to 40%.” Frank, I-caucus Member Services • The Power of 10 has been proven effective in marketing many things. It makes sense for us to use it in political elections and legislative initiatives aimed at restoring states’ rights, constitutional integrity and People’s Law!

  23. Getting our message out & building critical mass requires Internalizing 3 rules! • Rule #1– Stop worrying about how to reach millions of people. (You can’t, so don’t waste any of your time trying.) • Rule #2 – Start thinking about just 10 people in your neighborhood that you can truly reach. • Rule #3 – Understand that the only thing you have to do to take back our country is reach and educate those 10 people.  (PERIOD!)

  24. What does it mean toTruly reach 10 people • Truly – “with exactness of construction or operation; in a proper or suitable manner” • Reach – “to make an impression on; to communicate with; to hand over; pass on.”

  25. Remember, you are asking them to do two things… 1) Alert and educate 10 friends and neighbors and bring them to our neighborhood caucus with you. Motivate them to do the same with 10 other neighbors. 2) Represent our neighborhood by becoming a delegate to the Convention or help you to become that delegate to assure that only candidates who have committed to constitutional standards are elected. Persuade them to do the same with 10 more neighbors.

  26. The Personal Contact 1) Drop by and have a crucial conversation with your neighbor. Ask them how they feel about the current path America is on. 2) If they respond in a way that signals their dissatisfaction with current trends, continue on to the next step. (If they don’t indicate concern or show satisfaction, close the conversation and go on to the next friend). 3) Ask them to watch the video as a personal favor to you andask them to report back to you about their thoughts on the video. 4) For those who respond positively, begin to educate them and ask them to get involved by using the ‘Power of 10’ process you just used to help them learn. 5)You must follow up until they either join with you in the project or tell you they are not interested in doing anything. If one tells you they are not interested find another one until you have reached 10 reliable individuals who will join the cause.

  27. The E-Mail Method 1) Send an individually addressed, short and personal email to your chosen 10 people. This email will ask them how they feel about the current path America is on. 2) If they respond in a way that signals their dissatisfaction with current trends continue on to the next step. If they don’t indicate concern or show satisfaction, close the conversation and go on to the next friend. 3) Ask them to watch the video as a personal favor to you and ask them to report back to you about their thoughts on the video. 4) For those who respond positively begin to educate them and ask them to get involved by using the ‘Power of 10’ process you just used to help them learn. 5)You must follow up until they either join with you in the project or tell you they are not interested in doing anything. If one tells you they are not interested find another one until you have reached 10 who will do what you are asking.

  28. Thanks to Thanks to Frank and Monte at iCaucus for sharing the concept of this powerful recruiting tool. Although it has been used in marketing for many years we can easily see the benefits associated with using it for advancing the restoration of State’s Rights and People’s Law. Check out their amazing videos as a tool to educate your neighbors at: http://www.ourcaucus.com
