  1. 7 Reasons to be Humble Luis Eduardo Roberto Garza Luis Antonio Sáenz

  2. 1. BecauseArroganceIsn’tCool •  Most arrogant kids have a tendency to be rude in their behavior toward others. Rude behavior is not appreciated by anyone, especially other kids in your child’s peer group. If you would like to see your child well respected and accepted, teach him how to be humble, even if he does seem to be a cut above others.

  3. 2. Because Humility is a Sign of Self-Confidence • Someone who is confident in his knowledge and has self-assurance does not need to flaunt it, because his skills are evident. As your child gets older, teaching him to own his good points as well as his flaws will help him keep a realistic perspective on things. He will learn to have confidence in what he does know, and he will seek answers for those things he does not know.

  4. 3. Because Humility Builds Stronger Relationships  • When one athlete in a team sport gets all of the attention for winning the game, sometimes he will credit his good fortune to his teammates. Such actions help foster better relationships between the members of the team. After all, it is a team sport and that single athlete could not have won the game alone, despite what the commentators would have people believe. Instilling this kind of thinking in your child will serve her well as she matures and learns how to work well with other people.

  5. 4. Because Teachers Appreciate Humble Students  • Nowadays, teachers on every level have to deal with a variety of entitled attitudes and arrogant ideas. The humble student is like a breath of fresh air to the average educator. That can easily translate into a better educational experience for your child.

  6. 5.  Agile Development. • We learned from Unreasonable Mentor ElnorRozenrot (former VP of Growth Platforms at LG) that 90% of successful ventures start out with the wrong business plan. Successful entrepreneurs, therefore, don’t become too attached to the way in which they create impact but to the ultimate impact they want to create (with the exception of values, like non-violence for Gandhi). Altering course, even after tremendous time and energy has been spent in developing a strategy, requires an ability to admit mistakes and a need for change that stems from humility.

  7. 6. Honesty and Growth. • It turns out that admitting mistakes is remarkably challenging. That’s why most companies attempt to present a veneer of perfection to the outside world. But that’s the kind of thing that just turns people off.

  8. 7. PowerfulRelationships. • Unreasonable Group Founder Daniel Epstein blogged that one of the keys to developing powerful relationships with other people is to treat them like they are the “Messiah in the Room”. Humility, or in this case, the belief that you have something to learn from whomever is sitting across the table from you, is crucial to having this genuine curiosity in other people.

  9. whybeinganoptimisticperson? 7 REASONS

  10. Reason 1: Superior Health • In a study of 99 Harvard University students, those who were optimists at age 25 were significantly healthier at ages 45 and 60 than those who were pessimists. Other studies have linked a pessimistic explanatory style with higher rates of infectious disease, poor health, and earlier mortality.

  11. Reason 2: GreaterAchievement • Seligman analyzed the explanatory styles of sports teams and found that the more optimistic teams created more positive synergy and performed better than the pessimistic ones. Another study showed that pessimistic swimmers who were led to believe they’d done worse than they had were prone to future poor performance. Optimistic swimmers didn’t have this vulnerability.

  12. Reason 3: Persistence • Optimists don’t give up as easily as pessimists, and they are more likely to achieve success because of it. Some optimistic businessmen, like Donald Trump, have been bankrupt (even multiple times), but have been able to persist and turn their failures into millions.

  13. Reason 4: EmotionalHealth • In a study of clinically depressed patients, it was discovered that 12 weeks of cognitive therapy (which involves reframing a person's thought processes) worked better than drugs, as changes were more long-lasting than a temporary fix. Patients who had this training in optimism had the ability to more effectively handle future setbacks.

  14. Reason 5: IncreasedLongevity • In a retrospective study of 34 healthy Hall of Fame baseball players who played between 1900 and 1950, optimists lived significantly longer. Other studies have shown that optimistic breast cancer patients had better health outcomes than pessimistic and hopeless patients.

  15. Reason 6: Less Stress • Optimists also tend to experience less stress than pessimists or realists. Because they believe in themselves and their abilities, they expect good things to happen. They see negative events as minor setbacks to be easily overcome, and view positive events as evidence of further good things to come. Believing in themselves, they also take more risks and create more positive events in their lives.

  16. Reason 7: Overcome deseases • Once the researchers developed a consistent way to analyze the results of these different studies, they were able to show that optimism seemed to have a fairly remarkable impact on physical health. Whether an individual study looked at survival from a disease, immunity, cancer outcomes, pregnancy outcomes, pain tolerance, or another health topic, it seemed that those who had a more optimistic outlook performed better and had a better outcome than those who were pessimistic.

  17. Reasons to be Thankful

  18. Be Thankful for Your Health • I just had surgery on my leg last week and let me tell you, I am so thankful to have my mobility. All went well with my surgery but I was so nervous before and after because of how important health is to me. Health is wealth and there is nothing in the world more important than this. Being healthy tops the reasons to smile!

  19. Be Thankful for Your Parents • Being a mother of three, I finally get all that my parents sacrificed for me because I now live this sacrifice everyday. Parents do all for their children because they want to, and because they have unconditional love. I am thankful for my parents because they taught me so much about life and how to be an excellent mom. So thank your parents and smile!

  20. Smile for the Gifts That You Have • Everyone has a special gift that makes them unique. There is no one else in the world quite like you and that is what makes you so special. You may be ambitious, caring, a great athlete, or just an upbeat person that makes an impact on others' lives. Smile and be thankful for the gifts that you have. You are special!

  21. Smile for the Roof over Your Head • Be thankful for the roof over your head. There are people without homes so let’s be thankful. And if you have the means, help others or volunteer for a great organization like Habitat for Humanity and help build a home to lend a hand!

  22. Smile for Your Energy • Smile for Your Energy • Be thankful that you find the energy to do all that you do in one day. I am sure there are many days you'd much rather relax but you find the energy to work hard. This ability is a great reason to smile. You have to accentuate the positive you have because you are special.

  23. Be Thankful for Your Friends and Family • Having a wonderful support network of friends and family is a large reason to smile. Make sure to tell your friends and family you appreciate them and pay it forward by giving them a reason to smile!

  24. Smile Because You Are You • Be thankful for all that you are and continue to be. Work on bettering yourself each day by helping others and being the best person that you can be. And smile because you are you! • These are all my reasons to be thankful and smile for each day. Try and look at the glass as half full and be positive because life is what you make of it. Are you grateful for each day? What makes you smile?
