    3. Epidemiology Work Group Identified appropriate statisticians and data analysts from various state, federal and tribal entities and recruited them to the work group. Developed criteria for data inclusion Compiled national, state and local-level data relevant to Arizona Completed the 2005 Statewide Epidemiology Profile Used profile to make recommendations on how to fund local coalitions Created a Methamphetamine-Specific Report Created an abbreviated profile in 2007: A Snapshot of Arizona Releasing the 2007 Substance Abuse Epidemiology Profile

    4. 2005 Substance Abuse Epidemiology Profile: Indicators of Interest Past-month underage drinking Past-month underage binge drinking Past two-week binge drinking among youth in 8th, 10th and 12th grades Past-month binge drinking for those 12 and older Lifetime youth alcohol use Alcohol-related motor vehicle injuries Alcohol-related motor vehicle fatalities Arrests for driving under the influence (DUI) Past-year clinical dependence on, or abuse of, illicit drugs and alcohol Past-month underage illicit drug use Lifetime underage illicit drug use Past-month adult illicit drug use

    7. Evolution of the Epi Work Group Recognized members who could contribute and those who could not, making an effort to bring to the table counterparts who wanted to contribute. Recognized that at the conclusion of a major product, we would lose some participants. We began looking for replacements that could fill the void. At the conclusion of one product, immediately began on a new product and activities that would challenge the work group. Created a new subcommittee that is beginning to look at emerging issues in the data.

    8. Challenges Keeping the members engaged. Giving assignments while recognizing that everyone is volunteering time outside of their normal workload. Identifying and meeting members needs as participants in the process.
