Comprehensive Overview of Hepatitis B: Prevalence, Screening, and Management Strategies

This crash course on Hepatitis B by Yu-Ming Chang provides essential insights into the prevalence of chronic HBV infection among adults aged 19-49 as of 2005. It highlights key screening recommendations for high-risk populations, including Africans over 20 years old and Asian individuals over 40 or 50 years. The course emphasizes the simplicity of treatment despite the complexities of HBV infection and provides crucial take-home points on managing HBV, including the need for regular screenings for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and the importance of vaccination against co-infections.
