  4. All About Mrs. Hoskins • I am extremely excited to start another new year in FISD! This is my 14th year to teach. I have three kids, a son in seventh grade at the Jr. High, a daughter here in 5th grade, and my youngest son is in first grade at WW-Bales. I LOVE to teach and learn. I have my Master’s in Educational Admimistration, am an Abydos Writing Trainer, and have been trained as a Literacy Coordinator, too. I feel each student has been paced in my classroom for a reason, and I look forward to helping them grow and be successful! It is my goal to teach your Hero to dream big and never stop trying to reach those dreams. I am here to help them along the way. This year may not always be easy, but together we will make great things happen

  7. Homework • Minimal homework will be given throughout the year. It will mostly consist of classswork that did get not completed in the given time. If homework is assigned, it must be returned the following morning. During the school year we will have special projects that will be completed at home. A letter or note will be forwarded home with pertinent information before the start of each project. • In addition, students are encouraged to read every day. This helps build fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension, which makes better readers! Think of it this way..If a student reads 20 minutes a night, five times a week, that totals to about 3,600 minutes in a school year, the equivalent of 10 whole school days a year. If a student reads only 4 minutes a day, five times a week, that totals 720 minutes a school year, or only 2 school days of reading practice. Which student would you expect to read better? Know more? Write better? Have a better vocabulary? Reading is essential! Practicing math facts works the same way!!!
