  2. Big ideas • American Indians have affected American life in many ways. • Today we still use the names they chose for many rivers. • We`ve also named some of or states with the American words for those areas. • American Indians were the first to grow many of the foods we eat today.

  3. Foods • Vanilla and jerky. • Jerky is made out of dried meat. • Vanilla is made out of a vanilla bean.

  4. Words • Here are the words that they brought: tepee, tomahawk, hammock, skunk, tomato, avocado. • Tepee means: A native American tent; usually of conical shape • Hammock means: a hanging bed of canvas or rope netting

  5. Cool stuff • Moccasins, parkas, toboggans, pottery, jewelry, baskets, beadwork. • Toboggans keep your head warm in the winter. • The meaning of pottery: the craft of making earthenware. • The meaning of beadwork ornamentation with beds. • The meaning of parkas. a kind of heavy jacket.

  6. Other gifts • Powwows , legends and myths , dogsleds. • A powwow is a conference or a meeting. • A legend is a story that has a little historical truth • A myth is a story that was made to explain why curtain things happen.

  7. Dragons • Dragons are mythical creatures that can live in fire. • there fire is 12x as hot as the sun. • If the dragon is enraged it will burn you.

  8. Big Foot • Big foot is an overgrown sasquatch. • Big foot is 12x as strong as a human is. • Big foot is a LEGEND.
