  1. The Pact – Reading Assignment For 2014 BRIDGE CAMP – Quest Early College High School – Kim Mouser Each student take ONE handout ONLY, please.

Why ? • Provide motivation for the huge task you are setting out to accomplish • Provide a literary structure for the level of comprehension required in a Pre-AP/Advanced level course • Provide a common lesson and theme on which to focus for this week • Create a bond to all past, present and future QECHS students

  3. Reading and the Dialectical Journal • The term “Dialectic” means “the art or practice of arriving at the truth by using conversation involving question and answer.” • Think of your dialectical journal as a series of conversations with the text we will read this week. The process is meant to help you develop a better understanding of anything you are asked to read. • Use your journal to incorporate your personal response to the texts, your ideas about the themes we cover and our class discussions. • You will find that it is a useful way to process what you’re reading, prepare yourself for group discussion, and gather textual evidence for your Literary Analysis assignments.
