  1. DHS Bulldog Announcements Friday, September 20, 2019

  2. GOVERNOR’S HONORS PROGRAM • All students nominated for the Governor’s Honors Program (GHP) were emailed the GHP nomination application to their school’s email address. • If you were nominated and did not receive the application, please contact Mrs. Peek ASAP. • The application is due electronically to Mrs. Peek by Monday, September 30, 2019.

  3. LOANER DEVICES • Loaner devices are to be turned into the Technology Office in the Media Center on the same day they are checked out.

  4. CAMPUS PARKING • This is a reminder that all students must purchase a parking decal to park on campus. • Additionally, students that have purchased a parking decal must park in their assigned parking space number or you will be ticketed and fined. • Students that have not purchased a decal can go online to purchase a decal on www.myschoolbucks.com. Parking is being enforced!

  5. YOUTH LEADERSHIP HENRY • The following students were selected to represent Dutchtown High School as part of Youth Leadership Henry: • Aria Adams, Leila Braggs, Skyler Griffin, Morgan Oglesby, Sumaiyah Phillips and Mya Potts. • Congratulations on your selection!

  6. A HELPING HAND • Peer tutoring assistance is available in the media center. • If you would like a helping hand, please come to the Media Center during any block except IF.

  7. ATHLETE OF THE WEEK • Our athlete of the week is Randall Cleckley. As a junior, it is Randall’s first year running cross-country. He really enjoys the sport and is always ready for practices & races. Even when he does not feel well, he powers through and finishes each race with extraordinary effort. • DHS is lucky to have a student-athlete like Randall!

  8. CONGRATULATIONS! • High fives are in order for the Dutchtown Academic Team, who beat Griffin High at yesterday’s academic bowl. Go Dawgs! • Congrats to the Lady Bulldogs softball team for beating Stockbridge twice this week. Senior Ta’Ni Evans led the way on senior night striking out 12 Tiger batters in a 10-2 victory in the first game. In game 2, the Lady Bulldogs used good hitting and defense to win big at Stockbridge 17-1. Great job, ladies! • Kudos to both the varsity and JV volleyball teams on their wins over Salem and Stockbridge.

  9. INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL • ATTENTION: All students who want to participate in the fashion show for the International Festival must sign up with Ms. Moore in room 210. • Spaces are limited.

  10. HAMMER TIME • Your undefeated Bulldogs will bring the hammer tonight (9/20) when they travel to Union Grove to face the Wolverines. Kick-off is 7:30 PM. • Come out and show your DHS pride by supporting our team, band, cheerleaders and color guard! Let’s go Dawgs!

  11. PLAY BALL! • Varsity softball will host Creekside High on Monday, September 23, 2019. • Varsity softball will host Locust Grove High on Tuesday, September 24, 2019. • Flag football will play at Hampton High on Monday, September 30, 2019. • Varsity volleyball will host Griffin & Hampton High on Tuesday, October 1, 2019.

  12. SAVE THE DATE • Georgia Tech will host a NACAC Stem College & Career Fair from 1pm to 4pm on Sunday, September 29, at McCamish Pavilion. • Free registration at www.gotomystemfair.com.

  13. All seniors graduating in May must pay the mandatory senior fee of $200. The first payment of $50 is due on Monday, September 30. You may pay Ms. Martin in room 110 before school, during 4th block or directly after school. Please see Ms. Martin with questions.

  14. JUNIOR & SENIOR PROM • The junior and senior prom will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2020 at the Four Seasons Atlanta. • Prom tickets are now on sale and can be purchased for $110 each until September 30. Prices will increase thereafter. • Tickets can be bought online at myschoolbucks.com. They may also be purchased from Ms. Johnson in room 224 using cash, check or money order.

  15. MR. & MRS. DRAMA • Please stop by room 308 to vote for Mr. and Mrs. Drama. • Deadline for voting is September 30.

  16. TAKE A LOOK AT A BOOK • The Book Club will meet on Monday and Tuesday, September 30 & October 1, from 3:30 to 4:15 PM. • Please bring the book that you are currently reading or check out a book before the meeting.

  17. EMORY UNIVERSITY • ATTENTION JUNIORS & SENIORS: Emory University will hold an informational session during IF on Tuesday, October 1. Please stop by the counseling office to sign up. Seating is limited. Sign up today!

  18. AFRICAN AMERICAN STUDENT UNION • The African American Student Union Club invites you to a “Girls vs Guys” debate on Tuesday, October 1, from 3:30 to 4:45 PM in room 125. • New and returning members are welcome!

  19. INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL • International Caribbean festival participants will meet on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 during IF in room 119. Please sign up with Ms. Kimble before the meeting during 3rd block in room 119. Thank you.

  20. DO YOU KNOW THE WAY TO ATHENS? • An admissions representative from the University of Georgia will be at DHS on Wednesday, October 9, to meet with interested juniors and seniors who would like to know more about their admissions process. • Please sign up in the counseling office if interested.

  21. SENIOR PORTRAITS • Cady Studios will be back at DHS for the final senior yearbook picture day on Monday, October 14. • If you do not sign up for this day, you will have to go to one of the Cady Studios locations. • Please go to www.cadystudios.com to schedule your session. The cost is $30. See Ms. Martin in room 110 with questions.

  22. ROAD TRIP • The Georgia State College Tour will take place October 22nd.  The cost is $35. Students must be passing all classes to attend the trip. • Permission slips are available in the counseling office and available seats are first come first served. See Mrs. Johnson in the counseling office for questions.

  23. DUTCHTOWN’S GOT TALENT • Do you act, sing, dance, recite poetry, perform magic tricks or play an instrument? If so, come out to audition for the One Night Only: Talent Show. Soloists and groups are welcome! • Auditions will be on Tuesday, October 22, and Thursday, October 24. Please see Dr. Jolley in room 308 for an audition form. • The show will be on Friday, December 6. If your act makes the showcase, you are required to attend three show rehearsals.
