Addressing Human Trafficking in Latvia: Institutional Framework and Coordination Mechanisms

In May 2014, Mr. Dimitrijs Trofimovs, National Coordinator for Combating Human Trafficking in Latvia, addressed the importance of a robust institutional framework for addressing trafficking in human beings (THB). The Latvian National Coordination Mechanism focuses on the implementation of the National Strategy for the Prevention of THB (2014-2020), emphasizing data collection, reporting, and trend analysis. Key challenges include awareness-building, strengthening public-private partnerships, and ensuring effective national referral mechanisms to support victims.
