Upcoming GATE Activities: Enrichment, Mystery Novels, and Field Trips (Oct 28 - Nov 18)

Join us for exciting GATE activities between October 28th and November 18th! Kick off with a chess activity starting on November 11th, promoting logical thinking and problem-solving. Students will engage in deductive and inductive reasoning to solve mysteries while working on independent mystery novel tasks due by specific dates in November. Remember to submit book orders to Mrs. Oros by November 25th. Additionally, 5th graders will participate in a History Bowl field trip on October 29th, while the 6th grade will attend a chemistry and physics demonstration on November 18th.

  1. Upcoming Gate Activities October 28th-Nov. 5th

  2. Day 4 Enrichment during Lunch Chess Activity beginning on Nov. 11th

  3. Logic Problem Solving • Students are applying deductive and inductive reasoning in order to solve different types of problems. • We are solving mysteries and applying deductive and inductive reasoning skills. • Students are working on Independent Mystery Novel Task.

  4. IndependentMysteries *Students are working on an independent reading task outside the GATE classroom while GIEP meetings are occurring.

  5. Independent Reading • Mysteries for Independent GATE project needs to be read by: • Nov. 13th-4A,4B,4C,4D, 4E, 5A,5G,6A,6B,6D,6E • Nov. 14th-5B, 5Em, 5D • Nov. 17th-5C,6C • Nov. 18th-4F, 5Er, 5F,6F *Projects will be worked on in class.

  6. Book Orders • Stop in and pick book orders . • Orders are due to Mrs. Oros by November 25thor you can order online (directions are on the GATE webpage).

  7. Upcoming Activities *Selecting mystery novels and reviewing out of class assignment. -Guidelines -Time Management -Expectations -Reading novel during Titan Times on Oct. 27-November 3rd (No GATE class)

  8. 5th Grade • GATE students who have a strength in social studies will be attending a field trip on Oct. 29th to the History Bowl. • You will be receiving a permission slip this upcoming week from the GATE teachers and the permission forms and money are due by 10/24/14. *Students who do not go on this trip will attend a science field trip in January.

  9. 6th Grade GATE • Faraday Lecture – Permission forms will be handed out on Nov. 3rd. • On Tuesday, November 18th – • All 6th Grade GATE students will attend an interesting and exciting Chemistry and Physics demonstration called the “Faraday Lecture” named after Michael Faraday a British inventor in the areas of Electricity and magnetism – he is known as the inventor of the electric motor.
