Click here to see the map China and Taiwan are conflicted over who controls Taiwan. Taiwan is independent but is still a part of China. Click here to see the map Morocco in Northern Africa occupies the country of Western Sahara which is also located in North Africa. The United States supports Morocco because it is one of their strongest Muslim allies. Did you know? • Japan— Is a highly industrial nation but only has limited natural resources • Russia—Has numerous natural resources, but many are too expensive to develop because of the extreme climate in Siberia. • United States — Has a diversified economy (people make a living in many different ways), abundant natural resources, specialized industries • Côte d’Ivoire in Africa — Has limited natural resources so they must exchange cash crops for manufactured goods • Switzerland—Has few natural resources and produces services on a global scale such as banking.
