  2. Getting HEICS Started • Notification of Emergency Dept or other emergency communications(concern is multiple points of entry into a healthcare system!) • Administrative Supervisor initiates HEICS • Briefing with HEICS assignments • Command Centers, vest, job action sheets

  3. Role of the Physician • Medical Staff Director • Medical Care Director • Labor Pool (ED or Glaser-FH; Cafeteria-Ballard; ED or Health Education Rm-Prov) • Medical Staff Unit Leader

  4. Chemical Decontamination • Immediate Lock Down • Engineering sets up external decontam tent • Appropriate staff don special PPE • Crowd/traffic control • Decontaminated with soap and water prior to entry into ED • Treat as MCI • Role of Pharmacy for medication treatment

  5. Resources • Online • Madigan • CDC • Public Health • Link with PH EOC and Seattle/State EOC

  6. Community Standard • 8 hour course for all necessary staff • Level B PPE • Ongoing updates to diagnosis and treatment options

  7. Peripheral Issues • Mail room procedures • Employee Assistance Programs • Mutual Aid/Staffing • Just in Time Supplies • Photo Identification • DOH/JCAHO Preparation
