Background of the study • ATM • card issued by Bank and Financial institutions in order to perform transactions such as deposits, cash withdraw, obtaining bank account information, etc. • means to withdraw a specific amount of money from the account of card holder at any time without direct contact with bank. • known as 24 hour banking. • reduce the risk of carrying cash, the time and physical constraints to the bearer/user. • Himalayan Bank Ltd first time launched ATM in 1995 AD in Nepal.

  4. Purpose of the study To explore the reasons for discontinuity of ATM .

  5. Significance of the study • This study helps the financial institution to build up the ATM users, • Financial institution can right size the operation mechanism.

  6. Research methods • Explorative research design • Customer survey in Kathmandu valley • Administering questionnaire and interview • Systematic sampling techniques • Frequency and percentage analysis
