  6. Critical Thinking As a class... Take a minute or two to really observe the common features of these pictures. Based on the pictures, what do you think the definition of a one-point perspective is?

  7. One-point perspective: A way for artists to organize and understand space in a work of art. It is when one vanishing point exists.

  8. Horizon Line: The horizon line in is a horizontal line across the picture. It is always at eye level – it represents where the sky meets the earth. The actual horizon might not be visible, but you need to draw a 'virtual' horizon to construct a picture in perspective.

  9. Vanishing Point: The vanishing point is that spot on the horizon line to which the receding parallel lines diminish.

  10. Orthogonal Lines: orthogonals are the diagonal lines that can be drawn along receding parallel lines (or rows of objects) to the vanishing point. They are the lines that go into the distance.
