  1. IN 2009 CO-OPERATION IRELAND CELEBRATES 30 YEARS OF WORKING AT GRASS ROOTS LEVEL WITH COMMUNITIES FROM ALL PARTS OF IRELAND, NORTH AND SOUTH

  2. The charity’s cross border and cross community programmes develop good relationships between people who would not normally have an opportunity to meet, and increases understanding and respect between people of different cultural and religious backgrounds.

  3. Co-operation Ireland’s CALENDAR OF EVENTS has been organised for those who would like to take on a challenge in 2009 and help support the charity’s peace building work.

  4. CALENDAR OF EVENTS 2009 • London Marathon 26 April • Belfast Marathon Relay 4 May • Into the East Bike Ride 27-28 June • Ben Nevis Challenge 28-30 August • Tour the Kingdom Bike Ride 2-5 Sept • Bike New England in the Fall 22-29 Sept • New York City Marathon Tour 30 Oct-1 Nov

  5. INTO THE EAST BIKE RIDE • Two days of cycling 160 miles featuring the Cooley and Mourne Mountains, Carlingford Lough and a coastal route in Louth • Start and Finish Site – Dundalk Institute of Technology

INTO THE EAST BIKE RIDE • Saturday 27 June – The Cooley Mourne Challenge. 100 mile route through Forkhill, Loughbrickland, Rathfriland, Rostrevor, Warrenpoint, Newry and Carlingford • Sunday 28 June – Oriel Recovery Spin. 60 mile route through Ardee and Dunleer with 30 miles along the East Coast through Termonfeckin and Blackrock

  7. INTO THE EAST BIKE RIDE Sponsorship Options include: Entry, Lunch on both days, Evening Meal & Entertainment on Saturday, T-Shirt & Medal • Option 1: £75 or €94 – Both Days • Option 2: £135 or €169 includes Saturday night accommodation • Option 3: £40 or €50 One day entry only on either day

  12. BEN NEVIS CHALLENGE 28-30 August 2009 Sponsored ascent of Britain’s highest mountain in the Scottish Highlands. Raise £560 or €700 for Co-operation Ireland, Ulster Cancer Foundation and Marie Keating Foundation • Package Includes: • Coach and Ferry Travel to Fortwilliam from Dublin or Belfast • 2 nights hotel accommodation including breakfast and evening meals. Packed lunch on hike day • Ben Nevis Guides • Insurance, Celebration Party, Certificate of Achievement

  14. MARATHONS Co-operation Ireland need runners to take part in the London Marathon – 26 April and the Belfast Marathon Relay – 1 May. The largest group of approx 30 runners, annually take on the challenge of the New York Marathon in support of Co-operation Ireland.

  15. NEW YORK CITY MARATHON New York City Marathon Tour 30 October – 3 November One of the Worlds greatest sporting events attracting over 38,000 runners, 6,000 volunteers, 2 million spectators Entries are highly sought after and with limited places available, early booking is necessary
