    2. 2012/6/8 CITA 2 Dear President Stanley J. Simpson Good Morning Ladies and Gentlemen! On behalf of the China Construction Machinery Industry Association Industrial Truck Institution, I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to you for having invited us to participate in the Annual Meeting. With your permission, I would like to share the information on China’s industrial trucks industry.

    3. 2012/6/8 CITA 3 The presentation is divided into three parts: 1. Economic environment in China over the last several years; 2. Change in the industrial trucks industry in China over the last several years; 3. Conclusions;

    4. 2012/6/8 CITA 4

    5. 2012/6/8 CITA 5 GDB And Growth Rate from 2003 Through 2007

    6. 2012/6/8 CITA 6

    7. 2012/6/8 CITA 7 2007 marked the first time that the value added of the machinery industry broke through 7 trillion RMB. This represents and increase of almost 32% over the previous year. In the last 5 years, the average growth was more than 20%. This means that the machinery industry is on a path of very fast growth. These numbers point to the following conclusions: 1. China has been undergoing a period of fast industrialization and modernization. The domestic demand that such a fast growth creates will sustain the pace of the demand for the industrial machinery for quite some time; 2. China has also experienced a fast pace of urbanization. This translates into more areas that can converted to industrial uses. 3. Because of the phenomenon of globalization and outsourcing, the machinery industry will continue to enjoy a fast growth in China; 4. Another factor that will bear heavily on the development of the machinery industry in China is the attention given to its development by the Chinese government.

    10. 2012/6/8 CITA 10 Overall, the logistics industry also experienced a fast and stable growth in 2007. The demand for the logistics related products further expanded. The added value of the logistics industry also grew fast. At the same time, the ratio of the total amount of social logistics against the GDP rose slightly. The total amount of social logistics reached 75 trillion RMB in 2007. In year on year comparison, this represents an increase of 26.2%. The rate of increase in 2007 is 2.2% higher than in 2006. The influence that the logistics industry has on state of the national economy and the benefits that the economy gains from the logistics industry become obvious.

    11. 2012/6/8 CITA 11 Total Amount of Social Logistics from 2003 through 2007

    12. 2012/6/8 CITA 12 In comparison with the developed countries, the logistics cost has a long way to drop. The total social cost for logistics amounted to 2.4 trillion RMB. This represents 18.4% of GDP. This ratio is only 10% for developed countries. This means that the total logistics cost is much higher in China. We must conclude here that the efficiency of the logistics must improve in China. The development of modern logistics in China will create a big demand for forklift trucks because forklift trucks play a vital role in modern logistics.

    13. 2012/6/8 CITA 13

    14. 2012/6/8 CITA 14 China faced unprecedented challenges in the first half of this year. First, we faced a natural disaster caused by the rare winter storm. Then we were hit by a severe earthquake in Wenchuan that stunned the whole world. At the same time, the international economic environment worsened significantly. The global economy witnessed a marked slow-down. Also, the prices of many commodities, such as crude oil, iron ore, food, rose dramatically. The cost of the domestic labor force increased and the inflationary pressures in the economy started to influence the overall development and competitiveness of the economy. All these factors point to the slowing Chinese economy. Therefore, the Chinese government revised the forecast for the GDP growth down to 9.4%. 2. Now, I would like to turn your attention to the developments in the industrial trucks market in China.

    15. 2012/6/8 CITA 15 Industrial Trucks Sales from 2003 through 2008 (units)

    16. 2012/6/8 CITA 16 As you can see from the last slide, the total sales of industrial trucks witnessed a rapid growth in the last several years. This growth can be attributed to the growth in logistics, warehousing, manufacturing, sea ports, pharmaceuticals, food production, and aviation. The growth in the demand for forklift trucks spurred many new companies to start manufacturing forklift trucks. This phenomenon leads to the significant increase in supply of the trucks!

    17. 2012/6/8 CITA 17 Powered Industrial Trucks Sales from 2003 through 2008 (Chinese Market) units

    18. 2012/6/8 CITA 18 Chinese Market Share of Electric and IC Trucks from 2003 through 2008

    19. 2012/6/8 CITA 19 The sales of the IC trucks with the tonnage of between 3.0 to 4.999 tons occupy the biggest market share. It constitutes more than 60% of the total IC trucks market share. The IC trucks with the tonnage of 2.0 to 2.999 tons occupy the second largest market share. It constitutes about 20% of the total IC trucks market share. The sales of electric trucks continue to grow. Among electric trucks, the CB rider control trucks with the tonnage of 1 to 2 tons have the biggest market share. The second biggest market share belongs to CB rider control trucks with the tonnage of between 2.0 to 2.5 tons. In recent years, these two types of electric trucks gained the biggest market share.
