  2. Aims:- To demonstrate how we teach Mathematics in Year 3 to Year 6.- To allow time for you to become familiar with the different methods for each operation.- To have a list of useful website links that could be used at home.

  3. The ‘Mathematics’ lesson at Kingsholm In Year 3 to Year 6 we teach Mathematics for one hour from 11 – 12. For the first 15 minutes we practise key arithmetic skills (mental and written). We call this Ready Steady Maths. For the next 45 minutes we teach age related objectives in short blocks that could last a couple of weeks. Do it – Apply it – Solve it Home Learning – Maths in context, multiplication facts and mathletics.

  4. If a child has struggled to meet the objective during the morning session they are given the opportunity to receive additional support in the afternoon. (20 minutes) • If a child is not ready to move on to the next calculation method they will complete work at the level they need.

  14. ~ Subtraction with increasingly large and more complex numbers and decimal values Year 6

  15. Multiplicationx

  16. ~ Multiply using arrays Year 3

  17. ~ Short multiplication Year 4

  18. ~ Multiply up to four digit numbers by one or two digits Year 5

  19. ~ Multiply using Short & Long multiplication & decimals with up to 2 decimal places by a single digit Year 6

  21. ~ Repeated subtraction using a number line Year 3

  22. ~ Repeated subtraction using a number line Year 4
