    1. Computer Trouble Shooting The quickest way to solve hardware problems is to take care of them yourself. Most hardware and software problems are simple to remedy. This troubleshooting guide is your first line of action. If you are not able to solve the problem you are having with your hardware or software, consult your on-site specialist. If no on-site specialist is available, consult with your hardware vendor or the manufacturer. Manufacturers usually have help lines but it is difficult at times to get through to them because of the volume of calls that they receive. Another alternative to the help line is to access the manufacturer through the World Wide Web. Most of them have Web sites with an abundance of information and help. It may take a few minutes to comply. You may see another box saying the application isn't responding. Click on ENDTASK and it will shut down that particular application. If the Control/Alt/Delete combination doesn't work, then press the power button on your machine until the power is off. 4. Volume 2. I can't hear anything. Is the headset plug in the proper outlet? Is the volume adjusted? The volume can be adjusted usually by double clicking on the horn and adjusting the volume control. Sometimes you need to adjust the wave volume. You should also check any volume adjustments your speakers and/or headsets have. Do a sound test within the control panel of the Main group on Windows 3.x or in My Computer of Windows 95. If no sound is heard, the audio card is malfunctioning, the improper device is installed, or there is no sound device installed. Have you muted the sound? Look on the task bar where the time appears for a horn. Does it have a circle with a slash? If so, the sound is muted. To unmute the sound, double click the horn and turn off muting. . Solution: Check the cord in the back of the computer to see if the speakers are plugged into the computer. There are usually four black holes next to a 15 pin plug for a game port. Most times the speaker outlet is the one closest to the 15 pin plug. Plug in your speaker cable and then try adjusting the volume control ( the speaker icon) on the task bar. Clicking on the sliding tab should make a sound. Some speakers have a power plug .Check to see if the power cord to the speakers is plugged in and the power light on the speakers is on. Click once on your Volume icon on your task bar. Move the sliding bar up and see if you can hear anything. The problem could be the volume is too low. Double click on the volume icon and the volume control box appears. Make sure the MUTE button at the bottom is not checked. If you still have problems, call your help desk. 2. I can't hear anything.
