  2. What is Service Learning? • Service-learning is a teaching method that combines service to the community with classroom curriculum. It is more than merely community service. It is a hands-on approach to mastering subject material while fostering civic responsibility.

  3. Phi Mu Trash Pick Up! • Phi Mu has adopted a highway located on North Patterson Street. I went and picked up trash to keep the roads of Valdosta beautiful!

  4. For the Blazer-a-thon at VSU, my sorority got a group of people to participate in raising money for Children's Miracle Network. At the top of every hour we did a dance that we learned. We had an awesome time and Phi Mu won the overall most amount of money raised for CMN!

  6. Doug Henderson Memorial Golf Tournament • We worked at the Valdosta Country Club’s Doug Henderson Memorial Golf Tournament. We drove around in golf carts and provided drinks to all the members participating in the tournament!

  7. Who was Doug Henderson? The tournament raised money for the Doug Henderson III Memorial Fund, named for a former Valdosta High football player who lost his battle with cancer in September 2003. After Henderson’s death, his family set up a fund in his memory, and since its inception, it has given tens of thousands of dollars to different causes. All of the proceeds from the tournament each year go to the fund.

  8. Donations • For an hour of community service I donated 15 t-shirts to the BCM clothes drive!

  9. PGA Nationwide Golf Tournament • I volunteered at the South Georgia Classic Golf tournament at Kinderlou Golf Course.
