The context • The industry now serves more than 1.5 million households in AP alone. • The industry is attracting big players like Reliance and Bharati • only about 2% of world's roughly 500 million small entrepreneur is estimated to have access to financial services. • 90 million farm holdings, 30 million non-agricultural enterprises and 50 million landless households in India collectively need approx US$30 billion credit annually. This is about 5% of India's GDP
