    2. VISION STATEMENT: Navigation in the U.S. National Airspace System will transition to RNAV Navigation based on Multi-Sensor RNAV Systems: GPS, GPS/WAAS, GPS/LAAS Multi-Sensor FMS RNAV, RNP-RNAV Multi-Sensor Based Navigable Airspace Designated by: Required Navigation Performance (RNP)

    3. THIS MEANS - INCREASING OPERATIONS BASED ON RNAV Terminal Navigation: Arrival: RNAV Departure: RNAV Approaches: PLS: ILS, MLS, GLS (GBAS, SBAS) RNAV: LNAV, LNAV/VNAV (ICAO APV)

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS Improve NAS efficiency Point-to-point navigation Enhance en route flexibility Improve terminal navigation Increase utilization of currently equipped RNAV aircraft Current Air Carrier fleet: 30-35% No RNAV 60% RNAV-Broad range RNAV capability 5-10% RNP - RNAV/BVNAV Business Aircraft: Significant RNAV Capability

    7. PROVIDE ALTERNATIVE TO NONPRECISION APPROACH PROCEDURES Design NPAs with 3 final approach segments Publish vertical descent angle Publish new LNAV/VNAV procedures to DA Develop and publish WAAS and LAAS precision approach procedures

    8. PROVIDE RNAV DPS Level 1 Service: Standard RNAV DP based on 1.0 NM, 95% Service for RNP, IFR GPS, (/E, /F meeting required performance) RNP 1.0 Level 2 Service: RNAV DP offering maximum availability of service to RNP, /E, /F, and IFR GPS Based on 2.0 NM, 95% RNP 2.0

    9. PROVIDE RNAV DPS (CONTINUED) RNAV DPs will be published as: Level 1; 2 NM Route Width RNP 1.0 will be charted OR Level 2; 4 NM Route Width RNP 2.0 will be charted

    10. FAA DEFINITION OF /E AND /F /E: FMS with en route, terminal, and approach capability. Equipment requirements: a. Dual FMS meets the specs of AC 25-25, AC20-129, AC 20-130A, or equivalent criteria approved by Flight Standards b. A flight director and autopilot control system capable of following the lateral and vertical FMS flight path c. At least dual inertial reference units (IRUs)

    11. FAA DEFINITION OF /E AND /F (CONTINUED) d. A data base containing the waypoints and speed/altitude constraints for the route and/or procedure to be flown that is automatically loaded into the FMS flight plane. e. An electronic map /F: A single FMS with en route, terminal, and approach capability that meets the equipment requirements of /E, (a) through (d)
