Functions of Keys – (1) • Camera key (5) - short press: photo Slide - long press (hold): Turn on Camera • End key (4) - short press: Return to Today screen - long press (hold): Lock/Unlock device • Power key (1) - short press: LCD on/off (sleep mode) - long press (hold): Power on/off • Trackpad (3) - Scroll through the touch screen - Confirm your selection - Execute the selected application - There are two mode of trackpad 1) 4-way Navigation mode 2) Mouse mode 4

Q: What is Zoomer? - Zoomer is a function to zoom in/out UI screen - User can zoom in/out with volume key - Exit: press End key or double click the screen • Main menu key (8) - short press: Go to Main menu - long press (hold): Task manager • Reset key - Reset key is just next to Power key - Press this key when the device’s processing is stopped or slow with some of undefined errors. Functions of Keys – (2) • Volume UP/Down key (6, 7) - short press: volume control/vibration - long press (hold) Up key: *Zoomer Q: How to change the mode of Trackpad? - Path: Start → settings →system → Finger mouse - Select a mode: 4-way Navigation / Mouse

Widget • What isWidget? • Widgets are user friendly shortcuts to commonly used applications allowing you to customize your home screen. • User can arrange widgets on the Today screen. • Two screen modes • There are two screen modes in OMNIA – Portrait, Landscape • Each screen mode has its own widgets. Thus the widget arrangement is different each other. Landscape Portrait

Widget • How to activate Widgets? - Steps : Main Menu → Settings → Today → Items Tab → Check Box for Samsung Widgets * Caution: - Samsung Widget is not compatible with other today items, so even you selected other items like Samsung Today 2, it will display only Samsung Widget.- There is no way to make a user defined shortcut to the Widget. Motion Sensor • OMNIA has motion sensor to sense device’s rotating movement • With this sensor , OMNIA’s screen can be changed along with device’s position • Vertical position : The screen is changed to Portrait. • Horizon position : The screen is changed to Landscape. * Caution : When device is in Locking/Dimming state, rotation does not executed. This is by Samsung design concept. But now Samsung development team is considering to change this concept, because there were several VOC complaining inconvenience. Dimming: Not rotated

Motion Sensor • How do I enable or disable the Motion Sensor? • Steps: Main Menu → Settings → System → Motion Sensor → ‘Screen’ Tap → Select Automatic or Manual mode. • How can I change the Rotate Animation mode? • Steps: Main Menu → Settings → System → Motion Sensor → ‘Rotate Animation’ Tap • Options: System Default, ZoomInOut1, ZoomInOut2, Super Spin, Diagonal Flip,Twist, Random

Built-in Memory • OMNIA has 16GB (8GB) of built-in memory - Built-in memory is expressed as My Storage • How to check the remained built-in memory? - Steps: Main Menu → Settings → System → Memory → Storage Card - My storage: 8GB or 16GB built-in memory - Storage Card: memory for T-flash card - Bluetooth FTP: No meaning, Please ignore this option (This is kind of a bug option from Microsoft)

  13. General • Q1 : Why the device doesn't support auto-rotation in dimming state? Why the Full Screen mode of Touch Player doesn't support auto-rotation? - It's by Samsung design concept.     - There are several cases don't support auto-rotation like: • Full Screen mode in Touch Player/Streaming Player application • Smart Reader, Camera, Digital Frame application • Device Lock State, Dimming State, Sleep mode Smart Reader Digital Frame Camera

  14. General • Q2 : How to set the device as vibration mode? • There are 3 way to set the vibration mode. (1) Start from Dialer application • Path: Talk Key → Dialer → # button (long tapping) (2) Press Volume key → Select Vibrate in pop-up window of Volume (3) Click Volume icon → Select Vibrate in Volume pop up window Volume icon Vibrate

General • Q3: When occurred lock up or Fatal exception, What should I do? • Please try following steps. • Open Task Manager or Task Switcher in Programs and end several tasks which you don't use or end all tasks. • If step 1 is still not working, press the Soft Reset Button which just next to Power key.   16. General • Q4 : What should I do when touch screen is working incorrectly? • Please use Calibration process to align the screen if it is not responding accurately to stylus taps. • Steps: Main Menu → Settings → System → Screen → General → press Align Screen Press

  17. General • Q5 : How do I lock/unlock my Omnia? - There are two kinds of Device Lock in your Omnia: Key Lock and Pin Lock. • (1) Key Lock - Key lock just locks the keys and screen temporarily. Anybody can lock/unlock the device as following operations. - Lock: long press the End key - Unlock: long press the End key or click the Unlock buttons Lock Unlock Press Long press Press

  18. General • (2) Pin Lock (numeric device lock) - Pin lock is provided by Microsoft to keep the security of device. After set up the password, the device can be accessed only by the password. - Password Setting Steps : Main Menu →Settings →Lock • Q6 : What should I do after lost my device lock password? (1) Once the user lost the password, there is no way to retrieve the password by Microsoft’s design concept. the only way is guess the password out by hint which pre-input by user (in ‘Hint’ tap). So we strongly recommend you to write the hint when you set the password. (2) Visit the Samsung Service Center and download new S/W (OS image) Click Hint Click

General • Q7 : How to check the software version? • the version of PDA and Phone software can be checkedin following steps. • Steps: Main Menu → Settings → Version • Q8: What's the change on the phone upgrading firmware? • new upgraded firmware will provide more stable performance rather than updated functions. • Q9 : How to change the phone language of Omnia i900? - Most of Omnia supports only one default language. - Multi-language function is supported in these countries: Swiss, Sweden and so on.

General • Q10 : How do I optimize my device for 55MB free working memory and 8GB free storage memory? • If it possible please save your data like pictures, music, videos to the My Storage which can be filled with up to 8GB or 16GB data. • Q11: How much memory can I add to a phone? • you can't upgrade your mass storage like 8GB or 16GB, but you can extent the memory with T-flash card. in normal, Omnia supports until to 16GB T-flash card. (in theory, Omnia can supports 32GB T-flash card, but it seems like there is no 32GB T-flash card in the market right now) • Q12: Battery Consumption is so fast, what should I do? • Following ways are useful to extend your battery life. 1)When the device is free, press the power key and enter to the sleep mode as frequently as possible. 2) Disable unused wireless devices like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth. • Steps: Main Menu → Settings → Wireless Manager click Wi-Fi or Bluetooth button to On/Off the device. 3) Use power saving settings. • Steps: Main Menu → Settings → ‘System’ tap→ Power Off Off

( How to customize my own Main menu?) - Yes, shortcuts within the main menu is customizable and allow you to set your own favorites making navigating your phone even simpler - Steps : Main Menu → Shortcuts → Edit → Drag and drop wanted applications onto the screen to replace any previously set items → Click Ok Drag & Drop Click Click Click

  22. General • Q14: How to back up the data ? (1/3) - Preparation: (1) Install ActiveSync on your PC by using Getting Started Disk. (2) Connect your device to a PC by cable. Click Click Click Backup the data to PC! (1) You can backup these kinds of categories by using the Sync function of ActiveSync backup items: Contacts, Calendar, E-mail, Tasks, Notes, Favorites, Files, media. (2) Backup user date from Explorer of ActiveSync to your PC

  25. General • Q15 : Where can I set the background image? • There are several way to set the background image as below. (1) Widget – Image Viewer – Set (2) Start → Settings → Theme → select a background → ok → Yes (3) Start → Programs → Media Album (File Explorer) → Select a image file → Menu → Set as → Today Background

Multimedia • Q1 : I get the error when I try to start the camera, how do I fix that? • Please try following steps. • Open Task Manager or Task Switcher in Programs and end several tasks which you don't use or end all tasks. • If step 1) is still not working, press the soft reset button which just next to Power key. • If step 2) is still not working, remove the battery from the device and re-insert it to the device and reboot the device. • If step 3) is still not working, please visit Samsung Service Center ask the staffs. • Q2 : Why The FM Radio is not working? - 1) Please check whether you plugged in the ear-phone. - 2) If after step 1) the FM Radio is still not working, please check the other Radio device’s signal. If other Radio Device works well, please visit Samsung Service Center ask the staffs.

Multimedia • Q3 : How to move my music files to the memory card? • There are two way to move music files to memory card. 1) Phone to Phone: Copy music files from a folder like My Documents, My Storage to Storage Card which stand for T-flash memory card. 2) PC to Phone: Connect your device to the PC by USB cable. After Microsoft ActiveSync in the PC is actived, open the Explorer Window of ActiveSync. • Copy music files from a folder in PC to "Storage Card" folder which located in ActiveSync's Explorer Window. • Tip: When you buy a Omnia phone the CD-ROM which contains Microsoft ActiveSync software is provided.

Multimedia • Q4 : Can I install Youtube program in this Phone? - You don’t need to install Youtube application, just use the Internet browser. - Steps : Start → Opera browser → URL : www.youtube.com → chose one video → you will watch the video by Streaming Player. • Q5: If I transfer a music from another phone to my Samsung i900 Omnia with Bluetooth, I can’t open the file and it says not enough memory, why? 1) Please be sure there is enough space in main memory, we suggest keeping 30% of main memory is free. 2) Please check whether the file is a DRM free. 3) Please check whether the file is a unsupported format.

Multimedia • Q6: How to move songs/pictures from the phone memory to the storage card? • There is several way to move your contents like music, video, pictures. 1) File Explorer: you can move any type of files from your main memory to Storage card. • Programs → File Explorer → Menu → Edit (Cut/copy/Paste) 2) Media Album: you can move music, video, pictures and files like PDF files from main memory to Storage card. • Programs → Media Album → Menu → Edit (Cut/copy/Paste)

Multimedia • Q7 : Should I install DivX player to play DivX contents? • You don’t need to install DivX player from the internet because Omnia’s Touch Player do support DivX contents and DivX features. Please remind that Omnia already has a DivX mobile certification. • To use DivX DRM contents, you should register your Omnia device first. Following is the way to register your Omnia. • Press Main Menu → Settings → ‘Personal’ Tab → DivX VOD Registration → Get your DivX VOD registration code → Visit http://vod.divx.com for registration and technical support. • Q8 : How to play several music files in a file list? • You can play the files what you want as following steps. • Steps: Main menu → Touch Player → Library → All Music → Menu → Open File → Select the music files → Play

  32. Multimedia Media Album File Explorer Q9 : How to set a MP3 file as a Ringtone?- There are 3 way to set a MP3 file as a Ringtone. (1) Copy the MP3 file to one of following specific folders. * \My Documents, * \My Documents\My Ringtones * \Application Data\Sounds * \My Storage * \Storage Card Then you can see the name mp3 file is listed in the following path. * Main Menu → Settings → Personal → Phone * Main Menu → Settings → Personal → Sounds & Notifications → Notifications * Main Menu → Settings → Connections → Wireless Manager → Menu → Phone Settings (2) Press & hold the MP3 file in the File Explorer, Select ‘Set as Ringtone’ menu (3) In the Media Album, focus the MP3 file and select ‘Set as’ → Ringtone’ 32

Connectivity • Q1 : What is USB connection mode and How to set it up? - Path : Start → Setting → Connection → USB Connection mode → ActiveSync or Mass Storage - (1)Mass Storage: Use your 8GB or 16GB mass storage as a USB device - (2) Active Sync: Connect your Omnia phone to PC by ActiveSync * Caution: after select a option, please click “OK” button to apply the change. Click Click Click

  35. Connectivity • Q2 : How to set up Wi-Fi connection? - Steps : Start → Setting → Connections → Wireless Manager → Menu → Wi-Fi Settings → Then follow below steps. Choice one “Connecting” will be changed to “Connected” Click Click Click

  36. Connectivity • Q3: When you move out from Wi-Fi zone, it will automatically change the internet connection from Wi-Fi to GPRS. To be cautious this concerning more charge using the internet. - Microsoft’s internet application (ex: exchange mail) have this behavior but not a bug. This is Microsoft’ POLICY. -Samsung development team is considering apply new way like followings in future for user’s convenience. 1) Provide a setting option which can let user decide whether use data connection like GPRS or not. 2) Provide a setting option which can let the device discover whether Wi-Fi connection is on or not, if Wi-Fi connection is on, never connect to Data network like GPRS. (Start → Setting → Connections → Wireless Manager → Wi-Fi On/Off ) • Q4: Connection is changed to Wi-Fi from GPRS, why does the browser display “The page cannot be displayed.”? (1) Please check whether the current page is service provider’s WAP page or not. Wi-Fi only supports Web page but WAP page. (2) Sometimes Wi-Fi AP (Access Point) can’t access to web server. Please use famous web site like ‘www.google.com’ to check whether Omnia can access to normal web site or not. If not please contact the manager who in charge of the Wi-Fi AP to solve the problem.

Connectivity • Q5: Where can I check what internet connection is active at the moment? 1) Check the title bar icons like the picture in below. 2) When click the Wi-Fi icon, connectivity information window will pop-up. Ex: The connectivity information window shows BuffaloJP Wi-Fi connection is active and the Vodafone contractWAP HSDPA connection is active too. - Caution: Wi-Fi and Data Connection can be active in same time. Communication& Web • Q6: How can I check call duration of all connections what I have done from the beginig of using the phone? - Currently Omnia doesn't support this function. • Q7: Call drop is occurred frequently, what should I do? - 1) Call drops depends on the signal state. Please check other phone’s signal around you. If other phones are working well, please follow these steps. - 2) Please, turn the phone off & on. - 3) If it still not working, press the soft reset button which just next to Power key. - 4) If it still not working, visit Samsung Service Center ask the staffs. You can choose categories or make your own category (i.e. Group).
