  1. Iowa Test of Basic Skills(ITBS) Mukilteo School District Spring 2001

  2. ITBS Highlights 1. In all subjects reported, Mukilteo students continued to score above the national average in grades 2, 3, 5, 6 and 8. 2. The highest score was observed in grade 2 in math (73rd percentile) the highest score ever achieved in second grade math. 3. All schools contributed to the increase in math scores.

  3. ITBS Highlights 4. Third grade language and math scores were the highest scores achieved over the last 5 years. 5. Fifth grade scores continue to show an upward trend in math while reading and language scores were similar to previous ITBS results. 6. Sixth grade scores were generally similar to 1999 and 2000 ITBS results 7. After an increase in all subjects in 8th grade last year, 2001 results are comparable to 1999 results.

  10. Student Questionnaire Responses Grade 3 • Third graders reported: • 80% have computers in the home • 27% use computers for schoolwork • 61% read for fun during free time • These statistics are positively correlated with the students’ achievement

  11. Student Questionnaire Responses Grade 6 • Sixth graders reported: • 80% have computers in the home • 13% use computers for schoolwork • These statistics are positively correlated with the students’ achievement

  12. Student Questionnaire Responses Grades 3 & 6 • 45% of third graders have been in the district since Kindergarten and 36% of the third graders have been in the same school since Kindergarten • 31% of sixth graders have been in the district since 2nd grade or before.
