MARCBAL The project • The project is financed on the 2nd Axe, Measure 2.2, Action 2.2.2 “Strengthening services to fishing and farming enterprises” of the INTERREG program promoted by the EU • Has as general target strengthning of specific services in the agricultural field, concurring to products quality improvement and development of various agricultural activities, in a sustainable manner.

  3. MARCBAL The project • Involves Public Bodies, Local agencies, Study and Research Centres, Professionals and Technitians, agricultural businesses and final consumers. • Promotes integration through cross – border cooperation and know how transfer in agricultural and zootechnic field.

  4. MARCBAL Targets • Promote sustainable development of rural areas in the Balkan regions; • Increase income in Balkan rural areas; • Know how transfer in zootechnic field; • Implement integration and cooperation in crossborder Regions.

  5. MARCBAL Specific targets • Streangthinig the quality of the zootechnic patrimony; • Creation of a zootechnic government quality system; • Promotion of Marchigiana cattle breed; • Promotion of a wild or half-wilde breeding system; • Promotion of the knowledge and circulation of breeding techniques for quality meat production.

  6. MARCBAL Marchigiana Cattle Breed Characteristics (1) • Autochthonous race (present in Italy since IV cent. A.D.); • Used in the past for working in the fields; • High results in slaughtering; • Fine chemical – physical and organoleptic characteristics of the meat.

  7. MARCBAL Marchigiana Cattle Breed Characteristics(2) • High growth potential; • Precocious race (slaughtered at 15-16 months with profit around 67%); • Cows have a weight of 7 quintals while bulls have a weight of 12-15 quintals; • Good adaptation qualities to different climates.

MARCBAL Herbaceous cultivations, techniques and productions of Sustainable Cultivations ACTIONS & ACTIVITIES • Analysis of the characteristics of the agricultural productive systems in all the project regions • Data elaboration and remodulation • Forage experimentations • Transfer and exchange of technical and scientific experiences relevant for cultivation production techniques

MARCBAL Reproduction Methodologies and Techniques ACTIONS & ACTIVITIES • Analysis of the methodologies and reproduction techniques in the various macro areas • Data elaboration and remodulation • Zootechnic experimentation – Increase and genetic improvement of the Marchigiana Race cattle population through the technique of “Embryo transfer” (start up of small breeding farms) • Transfer of know how

MARCBAL Food and Veterinary Safety ACTIONS & ACTIVITIES • Analysis of the characteristics of hygiene and safety systems in the project regions • Data elaboration and remodulation • Characterization, evaluation and technological features of conservation for meat GPI productions • Acquisition of procedures and techniques for food and veterinary safety extended to all the macro-areas interested by the project

MARCBAL Administrative Management and Services to Agricultural Enterprises ACTIONS & ACTIVITIES • Analysis of the methodologies of cattle registry management in the various macro areas interested by the project • Data elaboration and remodulation • Transfer of methodologies and techniques of the heard book of the Marchigiana cattle race / reference legislation • Transfer of management experiences for agricultural services in the start up of a common system for agro-zootechnic enterprises (heard book, assistance to enterprises, associations…)
