  2. Shipping Hazardous Materials / Dangerous Goods Packages containing hazardous materials / dangerous goods must be packed by a certified (trained) packer. Packages must meet the requirements of DOT 49 CFR 173.4 or IATA 2.7, respectively.

  3. Shipping Hazardous Materials / Dangerous Goods Carriers Within U.S.: USPS, UPS International: FedEx, DHL(prohibited to send HazMat via airmail under any circumstances)

Small Quantity Exception Max. 30 ml per inner container(larger specimens can be wrapped in cheese cloth moistened with preservative) Max. 1000 ml total preservative per package (within U.S.) Max. 500 ml total preservative per package (international) Regulations prescribe container types and packing procedures

  7. U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Shipments to the U.S. from abroad: MAIL: No notification ahead of time necessary. Declaration can be filed post facto. COMMERCIAL CARRIER (FedEx, etc.): FMNH must notify appropriate USFWS at least 2 days ahead of time. Package must be marked as containing wildlife. Shipment must contain filled-out form 3-177
