  1. High School Admission Essay Sample At my fifth birthday party my mother had a Mad Scientist come to entertain the kids at my party. The mad scientist performed many fun experiments with dry ice, and my interest in science was born that day. As a five year old, I begged my mother to enroll me in a summer science class, since science fascinated me. Even though I was actually the only female in that summer class of 25 students it did not deter me from enrolling in science classes every summer since then. Throughout my childhood, my interest in science also intertwined with my interest in the arts. In middle school, I volunteered at the after school art program daily, helping other kids with art assignments. At my eighth grade graduation, I received both the art awards my middle school offered, for dedication to after school art programs. Did I mention that I was also a competitive dancer for about seven years, proficient in ballet, jazz, tap and Indian classical dance. This is when I began to...show more content... My mother always told the puzzling story of how the cardiac catheterization performed on him before he passed away did not reveal any blockages or heart problems, and yet he passed away once he was put on the heart lung machine as a precaution after the procedure. During the many meetings my mother had with the hospital officials and doctors to figure out his cause of death, the probable cause of death was attributed to the drug "Rezulin", the diabetes medication he was prescribed. That incident, the unexpected shock, the trauma, and the aftermath of figuring out the cause of his death, developed my interest in medicine and inspired me to study medical sciences. Even though both my parents are engineers, once they became aware of my interest in the medical sciences, they encouraged me to follow my developing ...Get more content on HelpWriting.Net...

  2. My High School Career Essay Through out my high school career I never took my education seriously. For most of the four years it was a big blur. I'm not quite sure if it was because of me or if I found myself blaming my surroundings or teachers for my lack of focus and strive to learn. A failure can mean different things to everyone else. Maybe there's just different types or categories of failures. These failures are meant to teach us something, or motivate us to simply not make these mistakes again. I remember going into my freshman year of high school nervous but excited because I thought I'd learn so many new things. Next thing you know I found myself dreading school. Was I being lazy? Was it my lack of motivation? I still can't grasp why exactly I lost that excitement or that yearning to go to school. I was raised to have the idea that school was a place to learn not socialize. But at the age of 14, what teenagers don't want to socialize and that's what got a hold of me. I spent too much time worrying about other things that didn't involve my education. Once I became a junior in high school I had been too far in the process of skipping school, not paying attention, and putting all my focus on other things. I'm not saying I didn't learn things while or whenever I did go to because I learned a lot of things but not enough. I didn't reach my full potential. I think this was the year I made friends who weren't as great of influence. So, at this point my lack of focus on my education was because of ...Get more content on HelpWriting.Net...

  3. Middle School Application Essay Sample Since submitting my original application to Berkeley back in November, I organized and took a leading role in a project called the Brown Middle School Health Sciences Pilot Program, a project which has been considerably meaningful to me and my growth as an individual, learner, and leader. As mentioned previously in my original application, I was perplexed by the seemingly never ending complexity of human anatomy, and I developed a love for medicine at an early age. Unfortunately, no classes or programs were offered by my middle school that explored these topics. Although my desire to seek the health sciences was fulfilled in high school, an opportunity to explore medicine at an even earlier age would have garnered even further success and would help me progress through my secondary education at a more focused rate. Now, as a senior in high school, I was given the opportunity to create a project to help my community in some way related to health sciences. I immediately formed a small team to organize a program to benefit my community educationally by giving middle schoolers the chance to explore medical careers and human anatomy, something I didn't have the chance to do myself at that age....show more content... Our vision for these lessons was to give the middle schoolers a candid perspective on the medical field, letting them know not just the benefits of becoming a doctor, but also the trials and tribulations they must undego. Furthermore, we wanted them to explore anatomy and medical procedures hands–on, rather than through books or videos. They were to learn how to suture on meshes that accurately simulated real skin, perform CPR on mannequins that gave real time feedback, measure and chart vitals of their partners, and cut into and explore organ specimens that reflected the structure of their human ...Get more content on HelpWriting.Net...

  4. High School Application Essay Sample As a child I always had a voice to be heard around the house, whether it was singing along to my favorite Barney songs or bossing my younger brothers around, my home was consistently filled with conversations of humor and sincerity. Soon after the Barney years came to an end, I turned into a chatty pre–teen. Life was moving along conversation to conversation, until it stopped. At the age of twelve, I was rushed to the hospital for what seemed to be a simple headache, but turned out to be a brain abscess– which required two invasive brains surgeries. I was one of the lucky ones, who got to walk away from my condition with both my cognitive and speech functioning remaining intact, but this experience was pivotal for me to want to go into a field where individuals were not so lucky....show more content... With the impressive amount of opportunities available on campus, such as the Child Development Center, Craniofacial center and affiliated hospitals, there are endless opportunities to develop into a therapist with extensive knowledge in the field. I come from a diverse academic background, having completed course work in the fields of psychology, linguistics, and cognitive science I have created a multi–faceted knowledgebase that allows me to think differently and present different ideas that are cohesive with what is being taught through the courses at UNC. My time spent in the hospital years ago has directly influenced the type of therapist that I want to be in my future. The most impactful doctors and therapists were those who were not only prepared with extensive knowledge to administer the most appropriate therapies, but also the ones who cared deeply about their patients. This experience has continuously motivated me in the field of Speech Pathology because I believe that I have both the compassion and ability to learn how to make the best therapeutic decisions for my ...Get more content on HelpWriting.Net...

  5. High School Admission Essay Sample I am very interested in attending Cornell's College of Agriculture and Life sciences and pursuing a major in Biology and Society. Pursuing this major allows me to incorporate a passion of mine, Biology, in the context of the sociocultural forces it is sure to be applied in. This is not only intellectually stimulating but also relevant to my upbringing. I am a Modern Orthodox Jew and have grown up in a community governed by strict cultural laws. While the preservation of life under Jewish law is regarded as the top priority, the application of necessary health care must be reconciled with values (for example modesty) that a strictly secular physician would not naturally consider. Attending a dual curriculum high–school has further deepened my understanding of the sensitivities and needs of my specific community. For the past four years, I have devoted half of my school day to of traditional general studies, and the other half, to discussing and reviewing the philosophy, ethics, and reasoning behind secular and Jewish Law. This, combined with the urge to get to the bottom of things, wether that be the basic chemical interactions and...show more content... As a lifeguard at Camp Stone, a summer camp for Jewish children, I have been put in positions that demand quick and affirmative medical treatment, all the while remaining sensitive to the religious values my camper's parents have entrusted me to uphold. I starkly remember stabilizing the neck of an 11 year old girl's who fell on her head while attempting to dismount from her councilor's shoulders. While my actions matched perfectly the instructions of my Red Cross Certified training, I can recall saying a quick prayer in my head for her. Additionally, after a team of EMTs arrived and took over her care, I, somewhat shellshocked, joined the rest of the camp for a moment of prayer, admittedly needing some ...Get more content on HelpWriting.Net...

  6. Boone High School Application Essay Sample I am a sixteen–year–old black boy born to two uneducated disabled Haitian immigrants, living in a house of three, family of 12, well below the poverty line. I am a product of my environment. Everything that I think, see or say today has been directly proportional to the people and experiences I have had yesterday. The mentality of success or failure has been ingrained in my mind since birth and has been the primary catalyst for my hardy work ethic. I live in Orlando and attend a predominately caucasian school on a magnet program waiver. The school I am supposed to attend does not have the support necessary to make students successful; it is, unfortunately, a stereotypical impoverished school, where many students and faculty settle for the bare minimum. I am one of only thirty remaining scholars in the William R. Boone High School Law Magnet. I maintain a 5.03 weighted GPA and am in the top 1% of my class. I thank my formal education for providing me with the ability to function in modern society; it is my informal education, the product of my background, that has provided me with the form/direction in life. As the son of two Haitian immigrants, I have been to Haiti twice throughout my life, each...show more content... I will study Multivariable Calculus, Differential Equations, and Calculus–based Electricity and Magnetism Physics at my local college in my senior year because I have accelerated past the math and science timeline for my school. When I graduate I will have taken over 25 AP and college courses. I have leadership positions in every facet of my community. Any spare time I get is allotted to volunteering. 7. High School Diploma Essay I plan on Graduating, and obtaining my high school diploma On June 2018, I plan on accomplishing my goals by by attending college. After High School I wish to attend Cal State San Bernardino or Cal State San Marcos and enter into their Athletics Program. To get accepted to these colleges I will maintain my grades and do whatever it takes to get into these colleges. Throughout my journey in High School I have taken numerous honors and Ap classes. I have also been in Extra–Curricular activities such as Cross–Country, Soccer and Track and Field. I have also been in the Performing Arts Department all throughout high school and have performed in numerous concerts for Choir. This October I will be taking the SAT so I have a better chance at being...show more content... I plan on becoming an Athletic Trainer and majoring in classes such as Exercise Physiology and Nutrition. In order to Accomplish this goal I will work my way up by applying for financial aid, working a part–time Job, and seeking other resources that can help me accomplish my dream such as this one. First I would received my Bachelor's degree and then aim for the higher goal which is to receive my Masters degree and become a certified trainer. After finishing my work in college I plan on looking for a job at other colleges, Universities or working with professional athletes with Professional teams. As a small child I always dreamed of attending college because I wanted to help my family live a better life financially. I had a really rough childhood because we struggled to make ends meet living under one provider. I have three brothers and two sisters; so we all add up to 8 including my parents and I. However, my parents did everything they could to make us happy and have a childhood no matter what our situation was. Attending college is my main Goal in life because my Mother was not able to receive her high school diploma and my father received his High School Diploma but, did not end up finishing college. Both of my parents have had a Huge impact on my life because they gave me advice; for example"Study so you won't have to go through what we have to go through everyday" or ...Get more content on HelpWriting.Net...

  8. Stevenson High School Application Essay Sample The past four years in and outside of Adlai E. Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire, Illinois have been highlighted with a multitude of flavorous events that created internal and external accomplishments within a life I am pleased to call my own. Each activity brought about a new chapter in my own self discovery and alluded to a mindset that aged me from childhood to adulthood. From first setting my blank canvas of a body in the uncharted ground of high school, I knew as a young pupil I was blossoming with potential to create something better for myself. I quickly took advantage of the fine arts courses such as guitar and chorus, believing the only possible outcome could be learning instruments for my own self gain. My blind remark was disproved quickly as being involved in the arts aided in meeting new people, creating a fearlessness in my own self expression, and realizing the importance of the music community to yours truly. Using music and it's community as a platform, I developed the skills that are necessary to be an adult. After becoming accustomed to the in–school involvement of fine arts activities, I wanted to push myself forward and participate in music outside of school. Constantly searching, I...show more content... The exception to this would be the turnout of my bands DIY concert. Finally reaching my aspiration of being in an independent band and creating a concert to benefit society changed me as I discovered who I really am. Having the support of the music community and learning how to bring my own ideas into life gave me the ability to spread my passion. Holding myself responsible for the past moments I created is something a child cannot do. It altered my mindset to transition into adulthood as I realized I wanted to take on more responsibility and become more educated. University will let me become the adult who is an advocate for using their platform to provide help to ...Get more content on HelpWriting.Net...

  9. High School Student Personal Statement Since I had a rough financial situation, I am an advocate for children in my community. I tutor many of the neighborhood children because I know all too well how difficult it was for me not having anyone available to help me with homework. I understand firsthand how is hard for young, poor, black children like to receive a fair education because we are often disregarded and overlooked by our teachers in favor of the students who were born with the "tools for success." Though I know there is a disadvantage between myself and my peers I do not make excuses nor am I jaded by this; instead, I work hard in school and I focus on my future. I will become successful someday; I just have to keep working hard and believing in my abilities. Living in ...Get more content on HelpWriting.Net...

  10. STEM Application Essay My acceptance into the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) program became one of my greatest experiences at North County High School. Throughout my STEM classes, I had learned to think more critically and creatively. STEM required us to collaborate to solve problems. This collaboration taught me proper communication and strong leadership skills which I utilized effectively during summer bridge projects and the community challenge projects that we did each year. One of the most significant community challenge projects that I did with a partner was design and print, using a 3–D printer provided from my school to create a cookie cutting prototype that helped modernize the production of cookies for a local bakery owner. Through...show more content... STEM gave the tools and skills necessary to apply to amazing internship and encourage me to be an outgoing student. While in high school I participated in clubs such as civil engineering and animal rescue club where I helped collect $500 in donations for dogs in the BARCS Animal Shelter by selling chocolate bars. I have also participated as a member in the National Honors Society where we commit to scholarship, leadership, service, and character. Taking advantage of all these experiences helped make me develop and mature as a person. As the coming years approach, I want my future to hold both the passion to explore new opportunities and the strength to overcome new challenges. With the experiences of my high school career, I aspire to take all the things I learned to transition into a college environment where my ideas can be challenged and shared. Where I can learn from others; where I can seek the opportunity to make a direct impact towards saving lives. I believe I can do great things. Through tenacity I will not only be gratified in becoming a doctor, but also be able to share my compassion for others through ...Get more content on HelpWriting.Net...

  11. Tyler High School Application Essay Tyler woke up on a Saturday morning and got ready for the six hour car ride to what would be his new home for the next four years, Ohio Northern University. He said good bye to his mom and both of his miniature schnauzers, Bonnie and Clyde. Tyler then left with his dad to embark on a four year journey that he hoped to be full of friendship, knowledge, learning, and most importantly success. Tyler was from a small town right outside of Peoria, Illinois. He attended high school at Metamora Township High School and was a redbird there. He had always earned good grades in his high school years without having to work very hard or study all that much. His grades were solid A's and B's but he never pushed himself hard enough to reach his full potential as a student. Tyler had thought for his whole life that he was going to be some kind of engineer just like his father. He had even played with the idea of majoring in physics but after taking several engineering prep classes he had decided that it was not the field for him. He later finally decided on business because of his fascination with the stock market and the dream of owning his own business one day. 12. High School Application Essay In my four years of high school I have become involved in many different clubs and organizations. These different organizations led me to new leadership opportunities. One of my goals as a leader was to improve the student involvement and school spirit at South Barber. My senior year I decided to take the initiative and fulfill my goal. This year I have organized a Back–to–School Bash, involving grades ninth through twelfth, which created a positive atmosphere to start the school year. I have also organized spirit week competitions, rewarded the classes who participated in spirit week, decorated the hallways the week of homecoming, and suggested to bring back the tradition of decorating shopping carts for the basketball homecoming pep rally. I meet with my PAL once a month to socialize with them and make them feel special. Often kids remember their FFA PAL as they grow up and use their FFA PAL as a role model. I am hoping to leave this impression on my PAL. As a National Honor Society Vice President, I have had the privilege of tutoring junior high students struggling in their school curriculum. Tutoring teaches the students how to properly study for their tests or how to improve their homework capabilities. As a senior in high school, I can remember being a mini cheerleader and looking up to the high school cheerleaders. Throughout all four years of high school, I have had the privilege of being that high school cheerleader to other younger girls. When creating bonds with these younger girls, I know that they look up to me as their role model. 13. Sample Of Admission Essay For High School My whole life I have been invested in doing what I love, focusing on my true passions, as well as finding new ones. I have been very involved in my high school, and have been lucky enough to be a part of multiple clubs and activities. Without these activities, my high school experience and life would be a lot different. I have been an active drama club member, a part of 'Bottlecappers,' a club advocating anti–drug, alcohol, and bullying to younger students in my district, and many other community service opportunities. I am lucky to have the opportunity to be in these activities, as they have shaped me to be the young adult I am today. Before I even entered high school, I obtained a love of theater and the performing arts. I have been singing and acting since I was nine, as well as on and off dancing since three. Taking classes at a local theater really introduced me to this interest of mine. When I entered high school, an injury kept me from doing shows. But now I graduate with nine high school shows under my belt, as well as being in multiple community theater productions. Being a part of these shows made me feel a strong sense of belonging, and whether I was an ensemble or lead...show more content... The feeling that those students may look up to us is very meaningful, and I feel it is a unique experience. I am lucky to have the chance to save a student's life through this club. Another community activity I enjoy doing is related to performing, but at senior citizen homes. Some of my friends and I often just like to get together with some music and go sing for them. This is a rewarding experience, as seeing the senior citizens smile, and making their day better, is truly a heartwarming experience every time I have the chance to perform for ...Get more content on HelpWriting.Net...

  14. Personal Statement: High School Admission Excelling in everything I do is a goal that I strive for no matter what it is I'm doing. I have worked so hard for everything I've achieved throughout my four years of high school, and have been accepted into the Naval Academy Preparatory School because of that determination. Being one step closer to an appointment to the United States Naval Academy has not only kept my eye on the prize, but has also pushed me harder to keep doing my absolute best. When I received a congratulating email from my dream college less than a week after receiving all three Congressional Nominations last year, ecstatic doesn't even describe how thrilled I was. Although the email wasn't giving me a direct appointment, I believed that Navy Prep would actually be the best option for me. Transitioning from a small town in northern Maine to the Naval Academy would've been a tough change, but now I am lucky enough to have the step ladder of NAPS in between. I'm always looking to push myself, learn, and grow as a person, and I know that this service academy will help me continue doing all of those tasks and more....show more content... 15. Middle School Application Essay My passion for mathematics was fixed at the age of ten, on the morning that my mathematics teacher told I would be sitting the Junior Maths Challenge, 'as practice for when you are older'. As I nervously started to answer the questions, a whole world began to open before me. I revelled in the problem solving, answering questions of a nature I had not seen before. My teachers were delighted when I emerged from the exam hungry for more. Since then I have consistently demonstrated my aptitude, achieving gold awards through to senior level, and scoring highly in the European Kangaroo. My middle school supported me by arranging weekly one–hour lessons with Dr Taylor, a local upper schoolteacher. These sessions nurtured my inquisitiveness and explored...show more content... I believe my mathematical studies are complemented by my third A level – music. I hear and see music in numbers, and my approach to playing or singing is similar to the mindset I use in maths. I am a dedicated and conscientious student in class, and a key member in many extra–curricular activities. As a keen musician, playing violin, trombone and piano, I contribute to a number of musical ensembles in school and played an integral part in the organisation of our school's summer concert. I am also a member of several local youth orchestras and bands, with whom I have toured abroad many times, most recently to Italy, France and Belgium. I have been a volunteer at my local Brownie unit for four years. Over this time I have taken on an increasingly important role in the organisation: working with the girls, the leadership team and the division executive team, running meetings, and latterly keeping the unit accounts. I am working towards my leadership warrant to become a Guider. Every aspect of Penn has impressed and convinced me that it's my dream school. The campus is beautiful and it's only a fifteen minutes drive away from my house. To me, the urban yet historical city of Philadelphia is still a mystery box that's waiting to be explored. The diversity and intense curriculum match the setting in which I wish to engrossed myself for the next four years. As of right now, I'm fascinated by a variety of majors including economics, mathematical economics, and psychology. I haven't decided which one I want to pursue but I know that the advisors at the College of Arts and Sciences will guide me to make the best decision. Unlike many school, The College's liberal arts foundation offers a variety of flexible academic disciplines bestowing upon me a chance to explore my miscellaneous interests. 17. Njhs Application Essay Examples I would be a great candidate for an officer of NJHS because I know how to stay organized and on task, I can communicate my ideas to others effectively, and I have great leadership skills. For example, in 6th grade, my friends and I volunteered during an 8th grade lunch hour to sell lemonade for a charity called Alex's Lemonade Stand, which is a foundation for childhood cancer. Even though the 8th graders were extremely loud and distracting, and often tried to get lemonade for free, my friends and I stayed on task. We also made many presentations to people of authority, such as the Principals and the Parent–Teacher Association. After the school year had ended, we had raised over $500 and adopted a giant panda cub for the school. We also had seen the effect of our leadership and cooperativity show up in younger students, who, many of them, were eager to help other causes. Finally, over the recent summer, I was the first violinist in a string quartet in a youth symphony workshop I attended. As first violinist, I was in charge of leading the group during rehearsals and in the final performance we had at the end of the week. During rehearsals, I worked with the rest of the group to master an entire quartet piece in one week, which involved keeping the group together and with the tempo throughout the song, making sure all cues were on time, and that we all knew which areas of the song to practice each day to ensure that the piece would be perfected by our final ...Get more content on HelpWriting.Net...

  18. Why I Want To Attend Boarding School "How did I get here?" A question that finds its way to the front of my thoughts on almost nightly basis since I began high school at Phillips Academy. I ponder how my low–income, black, public school educated and sarcastic being was capable of manipulating its way through lengthy admissions forms, holistic selection committees, and wine up at one of the best high schools in the nation. How? My braids sink into my pillow each night as this thought crosses my mind. This question is never from a place of regret for attending boarding school, but a consideration of all of the students who come from similar backgrounds as I do and why I was the one who "made it out." Why is it that I dissected my on shark in biology class while my friends at home shared the same seven year–old textbooks. How come I have opportunities to travel to different countries while my some of my peers have never left the state. Until I aid in creating better boarding school outreach programs for underrepresented and/or low income students, I will stay awake each night. Until I discover how to transform the privilege of a first class education into a right for all students, regardless of their socioeconomic status or race, I will stay awake. The injustices surrounding education and the access to opportunities I have been given prevent me from falling asleep with ease most nights. But not resting is nothing compared to the consequences of failing to provide thousands of children the high quality education they deserve. 19. Summer Program Application Essay The reason as to why I am applying for this summer program is because of the opportunity that it provides. Programs such as these gives the unique opportunity to explore multiple different career paths. But, not only does it provide a learning opportunity, it also allows a cultural one. Being able to travel and live in a foreign country at such a young age is one of the most memorable and amazing things that you can do. I believe that if accepted into this program, that I will do my very best to prove myself dedicated as a student because I want to spend my life learning and preparing myself for the real world as a careered woman. I feel like I could provide an interesting perspective to this program, for the main reason of having been apart of programs similar to this one during previous summers. I work well with others, and I always try to keep an open mind as to avoid biases and to be more empathetic and understanding towards others. I am very adaptive to my surroundings even if that means changing topics within a classroom discussion. Something else about me is that I am what is known as an ambivert.
