  13. Comets • Comets are chunks of ice and rock speeding through the solar system. They revolve around the sun until the heat of the sun melts them to nothing. They are describable by the dust and ion tails flaming out of the end of comets like fire. The dust tail is of the tail. the center and main part of the tail. The ion tail is the outer part of the structure. The ion tail only changes.

  14. Asteroids • Asteroids are chunks of rock that orbit the sun. Most exist in the asteroid belt and they have an irregular shape. Their colors are mostly reddish brown to black. When they are closer to the sun, they have dark surfaces meaning they are rich in carbon.

  15. Meteoroids • A meteoroid is a chunk of rock orbiting the sun. It is much smaller than a asteroid. Mainly the meteoroids come from an asteroid. Usually when it enters the atmosphere, it burns up quickly.

  16. Meteorites • A meteorite is a chunk of rock and metal that burns through the atmosphere and crashes on a planetary figure. It may create a crater in the process.

  17. Meteors • A meteor is the chunk of rock that you see burning up in the atmosphere when you see a shooting star. It usually burns up before it reaches Earth.

  18. Rotation and Revolution • Rotation is the time it takes for figure in space to spin on it’s axis one time. • Revolution is the time it takes for an item in space to move around another object in space.

  19. Solar and Lunar Eclipse • A solar eclipse is when the moon blocks out the sun. It appears as if the sun has disappeared . This appears as a dark spot on Earth. • A lunar eclipse is when the Earth is perfectly aligned between the sun and the moon so that the moon is not visible.

  20. Phases of the Moon • Waxing is when the moon appears to be getting larger. • Waning is when the moon appears to be getting smaller.
