  2. Police misconduct is a problem in many cases. The following are samples of a few cases in which a person has been released from a long jail term, and police misconduct is involved.

Marvin Anderson CASE: • Sentenced in1982 for rape, abduction, sodomy, and robbery • Released in 2002 Police Misconduct: • Showed only his photo in color to victim; the rest were black and white • Anderson was the only one to be shown in photo and person line-up • Rape kit and its contents were destroyed

  4. Kenneth Adams CASE: • Sentenced 75 years for rape/murder in1979 • Released 1996 Police Misconduct: • Police did not follow lead on actual perpetrators • Witness made false identification due to police pressure/threats

  5. Dennis Brown CASE: • Convicted in 1985 for rape and burglary • Exonerated in 2005 Police Misconduct: • Forced Brown to make false confession at knife point

  6. Jeff Deskovic CASE: • Convicted in 1990 for rape and murder • Released from prison in 2006 Police Misconduct: • Improper interrogation- • 6 hours long with just coffee, no food • 3 polygraph sessions with extensive questioning in between led to false confession

  7. Thomas Doswell CASE: • Convicted in 1986 • Exonerated in 2005 Police Misconduct: • Had an “R” only on his photo and told victim it was because he was previously convicted of rape. Making it a faulty photo line-up • Doswell didn’t fit victim’s original description

  8. Bruce Godschalk CASE: • Sentenced in 1987 • Released in 2002 Police Misconduct: • Forced false confession

  9. Lesly Jean CASE: • Convicted in 1982 • Released in 2001 Police Misconduct: • Failed to disclose pertinent evidence

  10. Albert Johnson CASE: • Convicted in 1992 for rape of two women • Exonerated in 2002 Police Misconduct: • Arrested Johnson after he was pulled over for speeding because he and his car fit the description of first rapist • Police pressured victim into identifying Johnson as the assailant even though she said he was not the man

  11. David Allen Jones CASE: • Convicted in 1995 for rape and murder of 3 individuals • Exonerated in 2004 Police Misconduct: • Forced a false confession

  12. Ron Williamson CASE: • Convicted in 1988 • Released in 1999 Police Misconduct: • Forced a false confession • Threat/Brainwashed
