How to register for HPP Step 1: PM - Update QLD Health STS Database Check all GP details correct (Medicare Provider number & HPI-I number) Step 2: GP - Register for a QGov account 100 points of ID – uses document numbers Complete online in 5 mins Step 3: GP - Register for HPP Need AHPRA number, HPI-I and Provider number

Update STS Address Book • Queensland Health’s STS (secure transfer service) Address Book lists all electronic inbox addresses for GPs in QLD • Often out-of-date if GPs change practices / locations –Practice managers: please update regularly • Delays timely electronic communication if incorrect, things have to be manually handled + faxed instead of sending via Medical Objects

GPSI Project • 25 GPs working in 11 specialties • Generally each works 1-2 sessions / week • Key outcomes; • Increased access for patients • Improved discharge rates back to regular GP • Increased specialist understanding of skills of GPs • Improving GP upskilling in community – consider ‘horizontal referrals’ to GPSIs in private practice

Successful Referral cont. • Urgent only when Category 1 • If the patient needs assessment within 24-48 hours, please contact the service prior to sending a referral • Use clinical override when • Inability to include essential referral information • Patient does not meet minimum referral criteria • Presence of Clinical Modifiers • Clearly articulate Clinical Override reason in referral • Discuss possible wait times and alternative pathways • Original referral and requested clinical information all resubmitted if not accepted initially
