  3. Sack of Lawrence • Violence surfaced for Kansas • Lawrence- antislavery • Proslavery- invaded burned headquarters, destroyed printing presses, looted houses and stores

  4. John Brown News reached Brown Thought that God called him to fight slavery Raised in a religious and anti-slavery family

  5. Pottawatomie Massacre • Brown was seeking revenge • Thought Lawrence posse killed 5 • He then killed 5 • 200 people ended up being killed • Brown fled • Know known as bleeding Kansas
