  1. Algebraic Fractions The method of adding or subtracting fractions is the same regardless of whether they contain numbers or algebraic terms. We first need to find the lowest common denominator. (L.C.D.) i.e. what number can be divided by 5 and 7? The reason we do this is to find two equivalent fractions with the same denominator The L.C.D. is 35.
