  3. Services Provided • Nurses • Nearly any medical services needed • Ex: Flu shots, emergency care • Take care of medication for students who needs to take medicine regularly • Athletic Trainers • Sport/athletic related injuries • Ex: Rehabilitation/physical therapy

  4. Cost • Health Services (including supplies) • $160,000 a year per school • Earn an average of $52,000 a year in Illinois • Athletic Trainers (including supplies) • $100,000 a year per school • Earn an average of $30,000 a year in Illinois

  5. Requirements • School Nurse • Bachelor's degree in nursing • Degree in Special Education • 1 year internship in a school • Athletic Trainer • Bachelors degree in athletic training • Pass the state certified athletic trainer test • At least 80 hours every three years of continuing education

  6. Misc. • Check blood levels of kids who has diabetes • Take care of the emergencies • Broken bones • Seizures • Help kids with disabilities • Provides counseling on mental and physical health needs • Trains staff to provide first aid for illness and injuries
