  1. PA Connectors To introduce the PA wire-to-board connector series.

  2. PA Connectors Many applications require a wire-to-board connector that is sub-miniature in size and offers engineers design flexibility. The PA family series wire-to-board connectors, interchangeable between the crimp style PA and the IDC PAF, are on a 2.0mm (.079”) pitch, molded in a RoHS compliant 94V0 Polyamide (SMT headers), are available in SMT and through-hole versions, and incorporate both polarization anda secure locking feature. Rated 3A AC/DC (using 22AWG) at 250V for the crimp style and 1.0A AC/DC (using 26 AWG) at 100V AC/DC for IDC, these low profile connectors have a side-entry height of only 6.2mm (.299”) (SMT). The series features secondary retainers to enhance safety in case of partial insertion or accidental release of the contact from the housing. A finger friendly version of the crimp style housing is offered for ease of mating cycles with the headers. A high-box type is offered for potted PCB’s.

  3. PA Connectorscrimp style wire-to-board contacts Standard Socket Contact Socket Contact for Retainer Mountable Housings The PA contacts, which are designed to accommodate a wire range of 22AWG to 28AWG (22 to 26 AWG for retainer mountable housings), are tin-plated over a phosphor bronze base material. The box construction ensures stable contact performance, positive electrical contact and low contact resistance at all times even when subjected to vibration and distortion.

  4. PA Connectors crimp style wire-to-board housings Molded in a Nylon 66 rated 94V-0 material, the polarized PA series housings incorporate a secure locking device to prevent accidental disconnection due to routing of wires or vibration. Available in 2 through 16 circuits (non-retainer type), housings are offered to allow for the use of an optional secondary retainer (available in 2 through 10 and 15 circuits) to enhance safety in the event of partial insertion or accidental release of the contact. The PA housings are interchangeable with the wire-to-wire PAL series for expanded application requirements. Recently introduced is a finger-friendly version of the PA housing available in 10 and 12 positions. This version has a bigger face to push by hand when mating from the headers making it easier in compact areas to connect and disconnect. 5. PA Connectors secondary retainer Molded of a glass-filled nylon 66, rated 94V-0, available in 2 through 10 and 15 circuits corresponding with the applicable housings, the optional secondary retainers add strength and stability to the crimped contacts inserted into the housings and assist in preventing accidental release of the contact from the housing.

  6. PA Connectors IDC wire-to-board connector Receptacle Retainer Molded in nylon 66 rated 94V-0 in circuit sizes 2 through 15, the PAF insulation displacement receptacle offers the user another mating option as part of the vast PA family series. Using 26AWG wire with an insulation OD of 0.9mm to 1.0mm (.035” to .039”), this is the first IDC connector to incorporate a secure locking feature. The receptacle incorporates a metallic strain relief that securely grips the wire insulation to help relieve stress on the contacts due to vibration or impact and also provides the same grip strength as found in the insulation barrel of the PA crimp style contact. The optional secondary retainer, with four locking points, enhances safety and provides strength to help prevent accidental release, completely covering the exposed terminated ID contacts.

  7. PA Connectors through-hole headers Available in top-entry (vertical) and side-entry (right angle) mounting configurations, the RoHS compliant headers are molded glass-filled PBT rated 94V-0 and feature insertion guides for easy and secure insertion of the mating PA plug or PAF receptacle. The copper alloy posts are reflow treated tin-plating over copper-underplating and are designed to prevent accidental removal of the pins that might result from distorted mating. Optional mounting bosses are offered for polarized placement onto the PCB.

  8. PA Connectors SMT headers Available in top-entry (vertical) and side-entry (right angle) mounting configurations, the RoHS compliant SMT headers are molded Polyamide rated 94V-0 and feature insertion guides for easy and secure insertion of the mating PA plug or PAF receptacle. The copper alloy posts are reflow treated tin-plating over copper-underplating and are designed to prevent accidental removal of the pins that might result from distorted mating. Copper alloy, copper-underplated tin-plated reinforcement tabs offer strength and stability to the mounted headers. Optional mounting bosses are offered for polarized placement onto the PCB. The SMT headers are packaged in embossed tape with removable suction caps designed for automated placement equipment.

  9. THE PA SERIES ARE ENGINEERING & MANUFACTURING FREINDLY Hand press for the PAF series Bench press and applicator for the PA series Mini-reel tool for the PA series Ratchet hand tool for the PA series Applicators are available for semi-automatic and fully automatic termination equipment normally found in the manufacturing environment as well as standard hand tools. Standard reels for the PA series (8,000 to 10,000 pieces) are available for manufacturing.

  10. THE PA SERIES SUMMARY • The PA wire-to-board connectors are a low profile, compact connector system: • Compact size and pitch • Reliable contact construction ideal for low current, low voltage conditions • Available in 2 to 16 positions • Secure, positive locking feature • Secondary retainers for assured, reliable contact placement • RoHS compliant SMT and through-hole product • Supported with termination tooling for all levels of prototype to full manufacturing requirements.
