Center for Professional Development and Teaching (CPDT) • Oversees the placements for all of our field-based courses. • The CPDT is also responsible for ensuring that all of our students receive support and quality feedback from a certified mentor who is assigned to work with them during their field placement. • Ensure that all of our studentsare prepared to provide learner-centered instructional experiences that will promote excellence and equity for all students

  3. Block I Course Requirements • Early Childhood-6 Bilingual Specialization • EDCI 3301 and EDCI 3322 • Bilingual 4-8 • EDCI 3301 and EDCI 3322 • All Level Certification • EDCI 3301 and EDCI 3302 • Middle School and Secondary (8-12) • EDCI 3301 and EDCI 3302

  4. Block IField Requirements • 4 hours per week, for 10 weeks, of instructional classroom field time • Participate in group activities • Correct papers • Assist in preparation of bulleting boards or instructional models • Complete and teach four lessons, which will be evaluated by the classroom mentor

  5. Block IICourse Requirements • EDCI 3304 • Methods, Management, and Discipline • EDDP 4324 • Teaching Diverse Student Population (WIN)

Block IIField Requirements • 7 hours per week, for 11 weeks, of instructional classroom field time • Participate in group activities • Correct papers • Assist in preparation of bulletin boards or instructional models • Complete and teach eight lessons, 5 of which will be evaluated by the classroom mentor, and 3 will be evaluated by the field university teaching mentor (FUTM)

  7. Block III- EDCI 4993/EDCI 4398 Field requirements of Block III students include: One week of pre-service at TAMIU 40 hours per week, for 12 weeks, of instructional classroom field time Full control of the class for 3-4 weeks Turn in their lesson plans to their classroom mentor on a weekly basis Mentors complete a field performance evaluation each week Professional Development Sessions and meetings with Supervisors
