KE Software's Chief Technology Officer, Bernard Marshall, outlines significant upcoming enhancements. Image Metadata Support 3.2.03 • Add support for the following image metadata formats: • IPTC (International Press Telecommunications Council) • EXIF (Exchangeable Image File Format) • XMP (Extensible Metadata Platform) • Add new “Metadata” tab to Multimedia Repository for extracted information. • Use metadata to update Multimedia Repository characteristics and resolution information.
Other Enhancements 3.2.03 • Condition check update tool. • Update image attachment dialogue box. • Ability to change language order “on the fly”. • Updated Conservation module (will depend on feedback).
EMu 3.3 Enhancements • Unicode support: • UTF 8 for server-side data • UTF 16 for client-side display • Extended field support. • Update database schema to full 64 bit support. • JDBC driver to provide live access to EMu tables. • No longer supported: • Windows 95/98/Me • Crystal 8.0 Viewer
Future Enhancements • Upgrade “look and feel” to Windows Vista (when released). • Investigate other interface paradigms. • Ability for a user to change groups “on the fly”. • Allow data updates via Shortcut facility. • Implementation of emerging standards (ABCD, Z39.87, etc.). • Extra Web Services interfaces (OAI, etc.). • Enhance query optimiser to provide faster cross-module searching.
