  2. 5 DUMB ONLINE POKER CONSPIRACY THEORIES

  3. Online Poker Lead To Osama Bin Laden’s Death You heard that right, the Seal team would not have had a prayer if Osama hadn’t won a WCOOP event just a few months prior to the raid. On a more serious note, it turns out that one of Bin Laden’s closest aides was actually a regular online poker player and that the CIA got information about his whereabouts from the poker sites that were shut down during Black Friday.

  4. Bots Everywhere! Another common conspiracy theory while playing poker online is the ‘House Bot’ theory. Apparently, some poker games are not content with making money from rake alone, and resort to introducing bots in the game to win even more cash from unsuspecting customers. These bot accusations generally have no substance to them, however there have been instances where cash games have employed house bots. But, no respectable poker room has ever faced a bot scandal, the few incidents that were reported were pertinent to small poker rooms with little or no reputation. So, avoid these shady poker rooms and you’ll never run into these pesky bots.

  5. Five Of A Kind? In 2006, the poker world was rocked when a video surfaced from a PokerStars tournament where five aces were dealt on the final table. The individual who spent time putting together that video might have expected at most a laugh, but the video grabbed headlines and became viral, giving the online poker naysayers more ammunition. PokerStars later provided evidence that the hand never happened, nor did the players in the screenshot actually take part in the event. Most card game players immediately recognized this as a joke, but others still ‘fight for the cause’ to this day. It is perhaps considered the best poker prank ever pulled.

  6. Super Users A super user is an online poker account capable of seeing opponents’ hole cards in real time, the ultimate ability to cheat. Ever since Ultimate Bet’s super-user scandal shocked the card game community, users remain apprehensive of super users wherever they go. Of all of the conspiracy theories, this one has some merit to it since it happened before. It has been several years since the stunt, but no one can predict if such a scandal will ever emerge again. If you are worried about super users, ensure that you play on reputed sites. There is virtually no chance that an eminent poker site with a good player base will ever allow such a thing to happen.

  7. Action Flops According to the Action Flop Theory, online poker rooms deliberately set up hands to cripple the best players and benefit the bad ones. It basically implies that poker rooms are intentionally rigging the board so players play bigger pots against each other thereby producing more rake. However, there is no legitimate evidence to bolster this theory.
